This document provides writing prompts related to analyzing political cartoons. Some of the prompts ask students to examine specific political cartoons that touch on topics like Native American discrimination, McCarthyism, Reagan-era foreign policy, and women's rights in Canada. Other prompts more generally ask students to discuss functions of editorial cartoons, rhetorical devices used in political cartoons, and whether political cartoons are an important historical source.
