Now that my children are all at school I would like to
work during the day. I work in the pub for a few hours
each evening and really enjoy it, but I would like to do
something more interesting and rewarding.
I have lived in this area all my life so I know my way around. I know
all lot about what’s going on from talking to other mums when I take
my kids to school. Also chatting to people in the bar is a good way to
learn about local events and things
I like people and can talk to anyone from any part of society with
confidence. My sister has a son with learning difficulties and I have
spent a lot of time with him as he has grown up. I have enjoyed
watching him mature and admire how he has coped with some of the
things that have sometimes stopped him doing the things he wants to
do.
I think disabled people should have the same chances as non-disabled
people.
I am good at explaining things to my children and husband. I help
train up new bar staff at work and show them how to clean the pipes,
work the till and change barrels.
You have to be confident to work behind a bar, especially at closing
time. I have also learnt how to sort out arguments in the bar and stop
fights breaking out.

team?
I am part of a good team at the bar. We get
on well and enjoy working together.
Everyone mucks in with all the different jobs.
What are your ambitions?
I want to see my children grow up happy
and healthy. If they live good lives and do
no harm to other people that’s what
matters most. I am not ambitious for
myself I just want to do a job I enjoy,
working with people and helping them to
live as good a life as me.

I have never worked with people with
learning difficulties so I expect I have a lot
to learn.
