2. Safe and Sound’ is the innovative 7 element programme from the WMS
Group, designed to help your customers make an informed decision in buying
a Safe car and therefore a Sound investment.
The programme has been carefully put together with both the used car
buyer and you the dealer firmly in focus. For you as the supplying dealer, it is
a commercial opportunity to attract and retain more customers and create
more profit from several elements of the programme, whilst setting yourself
apart as one of an elite (the best of the best) network of Safe and Sound
dealerships throughout the UK.
From the customers’ perspective, buying a car is a major financial decision
and one that they want to feel can be carried out in a way that includes them
in the process and provides all of the information that they need to make
such an important financial decision. Is the car safe and reliable? How
genuine and authentic is the vehicle and is the mileage accurate? How good is
the warranty? What about a rescue and recovery package? Is the vehicle fairly
priced? If you can provide satisfactory answers to these questions then as a
dealer you are in a position to concentrate on the vehicle.
3. SO WHAT EXACTLY IS SAFE AND SOUND ?
The programme, based on our exceptional used car
warranty product, takes away the confusion and
complexities for motorists buying a used vehicle.
The “Safe and Sound” programme includes seven
valuable elements to install consumer confidence and
encourage buyers to choose your dealership over the
competition
4. Element 1 - IS THE CAR SAFE?
The vehicle purchased by your customer will have a 60
point safety inspection performed.
Majority of the cars sold will go through the dealerships workshop and
will have a safety inspection or MOT done on it.
When we were developing ‘Safe and Sound’ our research
showed that vehicle safety had always been the most
important aspect to the majority of car buyers during
their search, which is why any “Safe and Sound”
dealership will include a sixty-point safety inspection,
provided free of charge to the customer along with six
other valuable elements worth a total of £500.
5. IS THE VEHICLE SAFE?
A safety inspection typically covers all of the
items that are checked during an MOT and is
the only way to rule out any accident causing
defects, which could put your customer and
other road users in serious danger. Something
that you as a reputable dealer must already be
doing.
Our sixty-point safety inspection includes
whether there is sufficient tread on the tyres,
the operation of the headlights, oil levels,
seatbelt operation and checks for windscreen
damage and worn brakes. But that’s not all
............
6.
7. Element2 - IS THE MILEAGE CORECT?
Without a provenance check being done, your customer won’t
receive the additional peace of mind knowing whether their
vehicle comes with a hidden past or not. A provenance check
(often referred to as a background check) is the only way to
guarantee that the vehicle your customer are proposing to buy is
exactly what they would expect it to be.
As part of the ‘Safe and Sound’ scheme, you the dealership will
carry out a full provenance check on the customers vehicle, which
will make sure that it has no outstanding finance arrangements
or mileage problems, hasn’t been stolen or written off previously,
or has had identity issues by checking for stolen V5 documents,
plate transfers, number plate and VIN/chassis number matches.
8. Element 3 – IS THE VEHICLE FREE
FROM FINANCE ?
The vehicle will have a car
provenance check done making
sure that no finance is
outstanding on the vehicle.
9. Element 4 - WARRANTY
“Safe and Sound Warranty covers all
mechanical and electrical components
including wear and tear*.
*Wear and tear applies to vehicles up to 6 years and 60,000 miles at the
time of purchase that have not exceeded 85,000 miles at the time of claim.
The policy does not cover negligence i.e. insufficient oil or water,
overheating or failure to ensure that minimum damage is incurred by taking
preventative measures. WMS Five Star will be offered to all cars up to 10
years and 100,000 miles at the time of vehicle purchase.
10. ‘Safe and Sound’ - The ULTIMATE car warranty
If your customers vehicle has not exceeded 6 years or 60,000 miles at
the policy start date then they will be issued a minimum six months

wear & tear. Items covered include the engine, gearbox (automatic and
manual), timing belts, turbo, drive system, brakes, steering, cooling
system, prop shaft, fuel system, suspension, wheel bearings, clutch,
electrics, casings and much more.

start date, they will still be issued with a minimum six months of the

RECOVERY

warranty will provide your customer with a minimum of six
months ‘Safe and Sound’ Assist Rescue and Recovery package

plus an onward destination service. The emergency breakdown
helpline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and
includes cover for any driver of the car listed on the proposal
form with six callouts permitted per year – plus no excess to
pay if you make a callout.
Our team of dedicated service engineers will always attempt to
attend the scene of the breakdown as quickly as possible with
the present average attendance time being 30-40 minutes so
your customer will be back on the road in next to no time.
12. Element 6 – FAIR PRICE
Unless your customers happen to carry around a car valuation retail price
guide, then they are unlikely to know what is determined a ‘fair’ price for
the vehicle they are about to buy from you. Providing your customers with
an independent vehicle valuation from a company such as Glasses Guide
who analyse thousands of lines of data to reach an average valuation based
on the model, age, mileage and even geographical location of the vehicle.
As a ‘Safe and Sound’ dealerships you will automatically include a valuation
from either and HPI check showing both retail values on Glasses and CAP as
part of the Significant Seven elements. Most of the “Safe and Sound”
dealers in the network just mention to the customer that they price check
their vehicles.
13. Element 7 – BUY BACK
Majority of customers will have a part-exchange to offer
when purchasing another vehicle. By supplying
your customer with a written guarantee that you will
purchase the vehicle back from them regardless of its age,
mileage and condition (which can be used as part-payment
for their next vehicle) will form part of the overall “Safe and
Sound” experience

‘Safe and Sound’ dealership you will buy back the vehicle
from your customer as a part exchange when they return to
