Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad was founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1915 as a base for his non-violent independence movement. Gandhi lived and worked at the ashram from 1915 to 1930, hosting important meetings and training volunteers. The ashram grounds included Gandhi's small living quarters known as Hridaya Kunj, guest houses, prayer areas, and the manager's hut. It now houses a museum with artifacts from Gandhi's life, archives of his writings, and exhibitions about his philosophy of non-violence. The Gandhi Sangrahalaya museum remains open daily as an educational site about Gandhi's leadership of the Indian independence movement.
