Local celebrities and coaches from the Big 5 schools will participate in the 6th annual Score 4 Scholarships Basketball Tournament to raise $1 million for college scholarships. Fifteen coaches and celebrities including Jerome Allen, Marc Vetri, and Jay Wright will play in 5v5 games to support the Philadelphia Education Fund and Philadelphia Scholars program. The Scholars program has provided over $11 million in scholarships to over 1,900 Philadelphia public school graduates to attend college.

Philadelphia (April 13, 2012) -- The list of fifteen reads like a who's who of Big 5 and pro basketball coaches –
both past and present – with a few local celebrities thrown in for good measure. University of Pennsylvania's
Head Men's Basketball Coach Jerome Allen and restaurateur Marc Vetri were the first to sign on to the 6th annual
NCAA-style Score 4 Scholarships Basketball Tournament at the famed Palestra stadium, both having played in
the event from its inception. Sunday will mark the first time that current Big 5 coaches will try to best each other
in 5v5 competitions. They’re doing it for education and our future workforce.
By the year 2025, just 13 years from now, the United States will need to add 20 million college-educated workers
to the economy in order to meet the workforce demand. In Philadelphia, fewer than 10% of students who attend
public school ultimately graduate from either a two or four year college program. According to David Baker of
Shire Pharmaceuticals, MVP Presenting Sponsor of the tournament, “As a major employer in the Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Scholars program has provided approximately $11 million in “last dollar college scholarships”
for more than 1,900 Philadelphia public school graduates. "As the cost of higher education continues to increase,
it's more important than ever that we do everything we can to help students achieve their dreams of an education.
The Scholars program has made it possible for six students to attend Villanova University in the past three years.
We are proud to support this program,” said Villanova University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Jay Wright.
On Monday night, April 16th
, Marc Vetri, a basketball enthusiast, will host the post-event reception at Osteria.
This year will mark Mr. Vetri’s sixth year of involvement with Score 4 Scholarships. Tickets to the Osteria
