FORMAL PAPER PART ONE 2
Abstract
This paper will explain what regular marijuana and Charlotte’s Web are. Medical benefits
of both will be discussed along with the similarities and differences between the two. Then it will
debate the pros and cons of legalizing both substances for medical and recreational purposes and
which states already do so. It will conclude with this student’s opinion of what was researched
and explain if their opinion was changed and why.
Keywords: Marijuana, Charlotte’s Web, medical benefit, recreational benefit, legalization
FORMAL PAPER PART ONE 3
Formal Paper Part One
Marijuana use has been a topic of hot debate in today’s society. There are many different
opinions on the subject, but one thing for certain is that there is plenty of research out there that
supports both the good and the bad of its use. This paper will delve into this sensitive subject by
defining, discussing, and researching what marijuana and Charlotte’s Web is, their use,
legalization matters, and this student’s personal opinion based on what was examined.
Regular Marijuana
Marijuana is defined as the dried leaves and female flowers of the hemp plant, used in
cigarette form as a narcotic or hallucinogen (Dictionary.com, 2017). It is a greenish-gray
mixture of dried leaves that is part of the hemp plant called cannabis sativa and is used in a
variety of ways such as being smoked, brewing tea, or mixed into foods (National Institute on
Drug Abuse, 2017). The main chemical responsible in marijuana that has hallucinogenic or mind
altering effects is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC (National Institute on Drug
Abuse, 2017). People who use marijuana recreationally seek this feeling.
Charlotte’s Web
Charlotte’s web is oil that is extracted from the hemp plant and contains U.S. government
patented cannabinoids that contains 0.3% or less of THC (Realm of Caring Foundation, 2017). It
was developed by the Stanley Brothers when they began growing high-CBD cannabis strains.
CBD does not cause the high that THC does, therefore is can be used for more medicinal
purposes. Some of the medical benefits of CBD include antiemetic, anticonvulsant,

antipsychotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, and combats tumor and cancer cells
(LeafScience, 2014).
Medical benefits of regular marijuana
In order to see all the benefits of marijuana, it is necessary to understand how it works.
Cells in the brain that process information are called neurons, and the chemical that allows
neurons to communicate are called neurotransmitters (Bonsor & Gerbis, 2017) .
Neurotransmitters bridge the gap between neurons that allows numerous functions in the brain

There is much concern regarding the use of marijuana with some groups calling for its legalization because of its value, which is yet to be confirmed. On the other hand, others are of the opinion that marijuana is dangerous and there is no need for further investigation or research for the determination of its value. Marijuana exists it in two forms i.e.(e.g. regular marijuana used for the medical purposes and other functions as well the newly discovered strain called Cannabis or Charlotte's web) (Egan & Bane, 2014).
Regular marijuana has low tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the dominant substance. Regular marijuana is an important medicine that is used for the treatment of glaucoma, chemotherapy, and multiple sclerosis. The presence of the low-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in the regular marijuana has been one of the reasons why some people have called for the ban on its use. Those opposing the use of the regular marijuana are of the argument that the value of the regular marijuana is being overrated (Egan & Bane, 2014).
On the other hand, Charlottes' web also known as a high-cannabidiol (CBD) tends to be more effective when compared to the low tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) when used as medicine. This is because it has a high cannabidiol (CBD) when compared to regular marijuana.despite Despite Charlotte's web having low tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), it is the presence of the high cannabidiol that helps in the reduction of the paranoia as well as the anxiety. It also serves as the energy booster and antipsychotic.
Charlotte's web is essential for the treatment pain and the inflammation. Additionally, patients suffering from intestinal complications, epilepsy and bacterial infection find it ineffective to rely on Charlotte's web. Despite having 40 percent concentration of high cannabidiol, Charlotte's web is lacking importance, highly demanding and desirable nutrients like amino acids, vitamins, and omega-3 (Hearing & Balducci, 2017). Despite having knowledge concerning the lack of these important elements in Charlotte's web, some have still gone ...

This marketing research project was created to better understand college students perceptions on marijuana. In this paper we cover background research concerning legalization of marijuana and behavior. After identifying questions that were not answered during our research, we administered a survey via Qualtrics and received over 700 responses from college students in different colleges in the nation. We took their responses and analyzed our data over SPSS. We discovered that most of our hypotheses held true.

In general, reliabilities less than 0.60 are considered to be poor, those in the 0.70 range, acceptable, and those over 0.80 good. Thus, the internal consistency reliability of the measures used in this study can be considered to be acceptable for the job enrichment measure and good for the other measures.
It is important to note that all the negatively worded items in the questionnaire should first be reversed before the items are submitted for reliability tests. Unless all the items measuring a variable are in the same direction, the reliabilities obtained will be incorrect.
A sample of the result obtained for the Cronbach’s alpha test for job enrichment, together with instructions on how it is obtained, is shown in Output 11.3.
The reliability of the job enrichment measure is presented in the first table in Output 11.3. The second table provides an overview of the alphas if we take one of the items out of the measure. For instance, it is shown that if the first item (Jobchar1) is taken out, Cronbach’s alpha of the new three-item measure will be 0.577. This means that the alpha will go down if we take item 1 out of our measure. On the other hand, if we take out item 3, our alpha will go up and become 0.851. Note that, in this case, we would not take out item 3 for two reasons. First, our alpha is above 0.7 so we do not have to take any remedial actions. Second, if we took item 3 out, the validity of our measure would probably decrease. We did not include item 3 for nothing in the original measure!
If, however, our Cronbach’s alpha was too low (under 0.60) then we could use this table to find out which of the items would have to be removed from our measure to increase the interitem consistency. Note that, usually, taking out an item, although improving the reliability of our measure, affects the validity of our measure .

Formal Essay #3: Reporting Information/The Expository Essay
Expository writing is a staple of academic writing. Throughout your academic and professional career, you will be called on to write hundreds of expository articles, reports and essays. A thorough knowledge of this writing form will hold you in good stead all through your career.
What is Expository Writing?
‘Expository’ is a synonym of ‘explanatory’. An expository essay is a piece of writing that explains or informs. It should be based on fact and free of the writer’s prejudices. Opinion is often expressed, but only if it is backed by fact. For example, if someone asked you to write an essay on the causes of World War II, you would write about Germany’s losses in World War I, the Treaty of Versailles, the fall of the Weimar Republic, and the rise of Hitler led Nazism. In other words, everything would be based on verifiable fact.
The expository writing process centers on four activities:
Generate a rough idea or hypothesis.
Find evidence to back up this idea.
Expound on the idea.
Present an argument to back up the idea.
Thus, if you were to say that the Treaty of Versailles was the chief cause of World War II, you would first talk about the conditions of the Treaty of Versailles, the financial condition of Germany after WWI, the ineffectiveness of the Weimar Republic, and how they all led to the rise of Nazism.
Structurally, a piece of expository writing has the following components:
An
introduction
that introduces the central idea you will discuss in the essay.
The
main body
that presents evidence to back up the idea. This is the meat of the essay.
A
conclusion
that presents your idea again in the light of the evidence.
Thus, the central thrust of expository writing should be to build towards proving an argument, fact by fact, piece of evidence by piece of evidence. You will use expository writing a lot throughout your academic life. Most essays that you write in college will be expository in nature. Most writing that you will do in your professional life will involve a lot of expository content as well. In other words, sharpening up this skill will serve you well throughout your life.

The Main Post needs to be 3-5 Paragraphs
At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Wednesday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Wednesday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation.
The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.

What do you think these films are saying about the pattern of behavior they followed to get them where they wound up in the end, as well as why they followed these patterns of behavior in the first place? In other words, what is the way of thinking or belief system that lead to these characters' behaviors, and what does the film tell us about this way of thinking or belief system? And finally, does the film propose an alternative way of thinking or life narrative that might have proven more salutory for these characters in the end?

The Jefferson County School System (JCSS) educates about 10,000 stud.docxSUBHI7
The Jefferson County School System (JCSS) educates about 10,000 students in fourteen elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. It serves a diverse community consisting of a county seat of 80,000 with a substantial industrial base and a major state university, and the surrounding rural area.
Central High School and Roosevelt High School, located on the eastern edge of town, are spirited athletic rivals whose attendance districts split the county into approximately equal areas, with each district including about 1,450 city and rural patrons. The two middle schools each have about 750 pupils in the seventh and eighth grades and also serve diversified areas. The elementary schools are located throughout the county and range in size from rural schools with about 250 students up to almost 700 students for the largest city school.
History of Administrative Computing in JCSS
Administrative computing at JCSS began in the early 1970s when computing resources at the university were leased to do scheduling and grade reporting and to keep student enrollment data. In 1976 the school corporation purchased a DEC PDP 11/34 computer, and the student management applications were converted from the university computer. During the next few years, financial applications were added and more student management applications were developed. Over the years there have been many changes to the JCSS technical architecture. They now have four Dell servers operating under UNIX, and PCs in all JCSS locations are connected to the system via a high-speed TCP/IP network.
All JCSS applications, both financial and student management, were custom developed by the longtime director of data processing, David Meyer, and the two programmers on his staff. The users of these systems were satisfied with them, and when they wanted changes and improvements, Meyer and his programmers would make them. There was no end-user capability—if anyone needed a special report, a program to produce it was written by one of the programmers.
Three years ago the long-time JCSS superintendent of schools retired, and Dr. Harvey Greene was hired as his replacement. Dr. Greene had been the superintendent of a smaller school system and had attended a conference where a speaker convinced him that software had become a commodity and that it no longer made sense for a school system to develop and maintain its own software.
After a few months to get his feet on the ground, Dr. Greene established a small task force of administrators to evaluate the JCSS data processing systems and to recommend directions for the future. Not surprisingly, this task force recommended that:
_ The JCSS systems should be replaced with purchased software packages with maintenance agreements.
_ The new systems should utilize an integrated database and report-generation software so that people could share data from various applications.
_ Because JCSS would no longer be doing custom development, the programming staff .
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Compare and contrast less government intervention in the financial market and more intervention. Does deregulation lead to more economic growth and stability?

This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

medical and recreational purposes and
which states already do so. It will conclude with this student’s
opinion of what was researched
and explain if their opinion was changed and why.

FORMAL PAPER PART ONE 3
Formal Paper Part One
Marijuana use has been a topic of hot debate in today’s society.
There are many different
3. opinions on the subject, but one thing for certain is that there is
plenty of research out there that
supports both the good and the bad of its use. This paper will
delve into this sensitive subject by
defining, discussing, and researching what marijuana and
Charlotte’s Web is, their use,
legalization matters, and this student’s personal opinion based
on what was examined.
Regular Marijuana
Marijuana is defined as the dried leaves and female flowers of
the hemp plant, used in
cigarette form as a narcotic or hallucinogen (Dictionary.com,
2017). It is a greenish-gray
mixture of dried leaves that is part of the hemp plant called
cannabis sativa and is used in a
variety of ways such as being smoked, brewing tea, or mixed
into foods (National Institute on
Drug Abuse, 2017). The main chemical responsible in marijuana
that has hallucinogenic or mind
altering effects is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as
THC (National Institute on Drug
Abuse, 2017). People who use marijuana recreationally seek
this feeling.
4. Charlotte’s Web
Charlotte’s web is oil that is extracted from the hemp plant and
contains U.S. government
patented cannabinoids that contains 0.3% or less of THC (Realm
of Caring Foundation, 2017). It
was developed by the Stanley Brothers when they began
growing high-CBD cannabis strains.
CBD does not cause the high that THC does, therefore is can be
used for more medicinal
purposes. Some of the medical benefits of CBD include
antiemetic, anticonvulsant,
FORMAL PAPER PART ONE 4
antipsychotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, and combats
tumor and cancer cells
(LeafScience, 2014).
Medical benefits of regular marijuana
In order to see all the benefits of marijuana, it is necessary to
understand how it works.
Cells in the brain that process information are called neurons,
and the chemical that allows
neurons to communicate are called neurotransmitters (Bonsor &
5. Gerbis, 2017) .
Neurotransmitters bridge the gap between neurons that allows
numerous functions in the brain
and body to switch on and off (Bonsor & Gerbis, 2017). By
hindering or filling in these areas,
THC can have different effects on the body and its bodily
functions.
Medical benefits of regular marijuana include treating
symptoms of multiple sclerosis
(MS), other muscle control problems, sleep deprivation,
glaucoma, inflammation, nausea, pain,
and epileptic seizures (National Institute of Drug Abuse, 2017).
There is also a unique balance
that will be necessary to find with marijuana as treatments. It
may decrease anxiety in low doses,
but higher doses may increase anxiety and make the user
become paranoid (Welsh & Loria,
2014).
The Scripps Research Institute published a study that found
THC slows the formation of
plaques by blocking the enzyme that the brain makes; the plaque
is what kills brain cells and can
lead to Alzheimer’s disease (Welsh & Loria, 2014). Since it is
relatively new, it is clear to see
6. why more research is being done on marijuana and why more
people are turning to it for their
health problems. It is important to have these trials because it
will be worth it to see if there are
any major negative side effects.
FORMAL PAPER PART ONE 5
Medical benefits of Charlotte’s Web
Several medical benefits of Charlotte’s Web were listed earlier,
but there is no better
example of proof than with the story of Charlotte Figi. Charlotte
was diagnosed with Dravet
Syndrome at three months old, experienced autism-like
behaviors at two years old, and then at
five years old was suffering approximately 300 seizures per
week that could last hours at a time
(Healthy Hemp Oil , 2017). The desperate parents went to the
Stanley Brothers and Charlotte
was given a strain of marijuana, now called Charlotte’s Web
that was low in THC and high in
CBD. Her seizures stopped, her autistic symptoms are
essentially gone, and she can now carry on
7. a normal life (Healthy Hemp Oil , 2017).
CBD has many medical uses and it works with THC to provide
these benefits. CBD has
been shown to offer healing effects on the body and reduce
some of the psychological effects
that THC has on the brain (Siruis, 2015). CBD is able to bind to
different areas on receptors than
where THC does so it creates a sedative, anti-depressant effect
on the brain without the
psychoactive high that comes with THC (Siruis, 2015).
Sometimes THC and CBD work together
even though they have separate functions.
Charlotte Figi is not the only case; other parents have reported a
high rate of success in
reducing the amount of seizures with CBD treatments and it
shows positive side effects when it
comes to behavior and alertness (Jacobson & Porter, 2016).
When it comes to children,
Charlotte’s Web would be a great substitute for regular
marijuana since it does not contain THC.
If kids can still get the medical benefits without the effects of
THC, and since CBD has
optimistic behavioral effects, it can help them be a normal kid
8. again.
FORMAL PAPER PART ONE 6
Similarities and Differences
Since Charlotte’s Web and marijuana are from the same hemp
plant, they will have
several medical benefits in common. These include stopping
seizures, reducing pain and
inflammation, and help with muscle control problems. They
both also latch on to
neurotransmitters that in turn inhibit or change body functions.
Another similarity is that more
people are turning to these forms of treatments as opposed to
other pharmaceutical drugs.
However, the main difference between the two is the presence
of THC. THC is what
causes tiredness and hallucinogenic thoughts. Since Charlotte’s
Web has a very low dose of
THC, users are more alert and not as groggy. THC can also
cause short-term memory and affect
coordination. This makes Charlotte’s Web the more viable
option to give, especially to children.
9. Another difference is that THC increases the user’s appetite.
This would be good in a situation
when someone is recovering from a chemotherapy treatment,
since they are in pain and nauseous
afterwards. Chemotherapy patients usually do not feel like
eating and are stressed out from the
pain of what they are going through; marijuana may help with
that.
