American Society Cancer
American Society Cancer (ASC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating cancer through medical and volunteer operation in the United States. The activities that ASC engages includes providing grants and organizing awareness program to advertise and inform the society about cancer. The gifts offered are used to fund researchers, serving callers in the National Cancer Information Centre as well as discovering the links between cancer and smoke. More than two million people volunteer with the American Society cancer in more than 3400 offices. ASC also funds scientist dedicated to discovering life-saving treatments of cancer and develop preventive measures. The primary aspects that the organization concern with include prevention, treatment and detection and research on the disease. American Society Cancer works with the local government authorities to provide cancer services as well inform the society about cancer.
The nonprofit organization shares many services with the local government. Health is among the priorities of any government hence it is intimately involved in any activities on health. ASC informs the society about cancer and creates awareness on the necessity of having a cancer-free society (Davidson et al., 2015). Also, the organization partners with companies and other organizations to fund for cancers related activities such as research on best practices in cancer issues. Besides, the organization provides the local government with the human power to engage in delivering different cancer-related activities. ASC is helped the society to reduce cancer deaths considerably in the United States. In enhancing effective communication with external and internal audiences, the organization should apply the following strategies. Firstly, it should raise awareness and also equip employees with information and skills. There should include the formation of a liaison committee to ensure all stakeholders are involved in the program. Lastly, there should be a clear communication plan in and out of the organization.
American Society Cancer important objective is to save lives in the United States. In achieving this objective, the organization has volunteers working together with the community to create awareness and treat cancer. ASC gets dedicated to having a cancer-free society through prevention and treatment of disease. The volunteer initiative is a supplementary to local government relationship with the organization purpose and objective (Crawford et al., 2015). The organization also complements the role of government in the health sector. More so, the organization gets a lot of support in relation with cancer. The national government in collaboration with the local government offers to fund for different programs. Also, the local government fund cancer training i ...

The creation of community health promotion and education programs takes into consideration several agencies or parties who help in the achievement of the desired health goals. Each of the partners will address its roles using different approaches depending on their area of expertise. This is an important factor to consider as different institutions address health promotion using different approaches and perspectives. The overall outcome from the contribution of every partner should be able to restore and promote the physical, emotional, spiritual, psychological, and social wellness of the community in relation to the health issue being suffered (Minelli, & Breckon, 2009). Chronic diseases are currently the leading causes of death in the community due to their complexity and the severe effects on human health. The community health promotion and education program will be provided by the ‘Health Concerns Coalition’ which will be made up of the following partners; community religious groups, Cancer Supportive Care Foundation, an association of cancer-survivor patients, nutritional organizations, and the local authority.
1. Cancer Supportive Care Foundation – This is an important part of the coalition as it will offer technical expertise in education and diagnosis of chronic diseases. The foundation team will include medical experts who will diagnose the community members of any chronic illnesses. Examinations for diseases such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes and blood pressure will be conducted by this partner as they will provide modern machines needed for the diagnosis of chronic illnesses.

NURS-6050N-23: Policy & Advocacy for Pop Health
Introduction
The present US health care policies and regulations established by the various government agencies, insurance companies and other healthcare organizations pose certain challenges to us as nurses and of course the patients who are generally the ones caught in the middle of cost and payment constraints and access to applicable quality care. According to the 2005 data from the United States Census Bureau about 50 million Americans are uninsured while at the same time the cost of health care is still rising. With the continued rising costs of care, degenerating and lack of access to comprehensive care, and poor-quality services, there is an urgent need to improve our health care performances in the United States. (Carey, 2006). As such, changes are required in government, health care organizations and insurance policies that tackles most of the health-related issues. (Kendig, 2006). This project focuses on the development of an advocacy campaign with a view towards addressing how current laws or regulations may affect how to proceed in advocating for a proposed policy and how to influence legislators and other policymakers to enact a policy. The project also examined possible barriers to the legislative steps that could impede a proposed policy from being enforced as designed. (WaldenU, 2017).
The existing laws and regulations that are used can address the situation and contribute to changing the chronic illnesses that plague the world but using these strategies by themselves will not be suffice for addressing the problems associated with Non-Communicable Diseases across the world. This is because many countries have weak health care systems, even those that are considered “First” world countries such as America. The existing laws and regulations are encapsulated in global legal doctrines as well as national doctrines to provide budgeting for healthcare prevention but this often is negatively impacted by under-budgeting that occurs, poor demand forecasting, and poor distribution of services to those most in need. (Cherry, & Trotter Betts, 2005).
Governments across the world are implementing fiscal policies that are predicated upon raising taxes, utilization of subsidiary statutory instruments such as regulations that establish standards that must be met toward cigarettes, alcohol, and other major contributors to NCDs, and the improvement of access to NCD treatments. Government agencies also play a role in monitoring and enforcing regulations that are established to address this global healthcare problem. Other measures that are taken by governments are predicated upon the allocation of resources to train healthcare providers, developing policies that ensure the retention of healthcare providers, establi.

Impact of StakeholdersAs with any intervention, stakeholders musMalikPinckney86
Impact of Stakeholders
As with any intervention, stakeholders must be considered. For population health programs and interventions, the stakeholder group is large. If you are providing care to an individual patient, you may only consider the needs of the patient, family, and healthcare team. In population health, stakeholders may include the city, state, and national governments, along with the population and community impacted. In population health programs and interventions the goal is achieve the "greatest good for the greatest number" (Bentham, 1996). The focus of population health is broad and the needs of all stakeholders must be considered.Primary Prevention
Primary prevention targets disease or disability prevention. These interventions focus on health promotion and address a universal population. Primary prevention interventions occur across settings, including healthcare organizations, school-based health clinics, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) clinics, social media, as well as private homes (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2018). One example of a primary prevention intervention is a program to promote breastfeeding to reduce the occurrence of childhood obesity and comorbidities. Another example is vaccination programs to reduce the occurrence of infectious diseases.Secondary Prevention
Secondary prevention focuses on identifying already occurring health problems or conditions prior to the onset of serious or long-term problems. These interventions address selected or targeted symptomatic populations. The objective of secondary prevention is early diagnosis and initial treatment or stabilization of disease in the early stages before it causes significant morbidity and mortality. These interventions can occur in all the some venues as primary interventions, as well as in emergency departments and retail-based clinics, such as Walgreen's (Moreland & Curran, 2018).Tertiary Prevention
Tertiary prevention aims to slow or stop the progression of disease. These interventions target individuals who are already diagnosed with a disease condition and work to restore function and reduce disease-related complications (Moreland & Curran, 2018).
The third level of prevention is tertiary prevention, which is the act of managing a disease after diagnosis. Let's return to Kevin to see how this level of prevention relates to him. During Kevin's colonoscopy, the provider discovered polyps. The polyps were removed. And the pathology report reveals cancer. Tertiary prevention is the process of intervention and treatment.
It involves managing the disease post-diagnosis to slow or stop disease progression. Kevin's story illustrates an example of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, including interventions for each level of prevention.
Latest evidence suggests that therapeutic intervention strategies for Alzheimer's disease must be reconsidered as pathogenesis is now known to vary at different stages of the disease (Bu et al., 2016) ...

Medicaid program
PART ONE
a. Purpose of the program
The US government established the Medicaid healthcare program with intentions of making healthcare accessible and affordable to the citizens. The program was perceived as one of great importance because in the US there are a high number of people who belongs to the low-income class and hence could not afford healthcare services which are relatively high. After the establishment, different US states embraced the program into their respective healthcare industry and the program is normally operated independently in various US states. For example, I come from Illinois, and in this state, the Medicaid program that offers health care assistance has been branded as Illinois Medicaid Program. The program is jointly funded by the US national government and the federal government program. The program's main purpose is to pay for necessary medical individuals who cannot access or afford health care services, and they are citizens or legal aliens of Illinois (Thompson, 2012). The Illinois Medicaid program pays for medical services for children and their caregivers, parents, pregnant women, persons with disability, the blind, and also citizens older than 65 years. The services that are catered for by the Illinois Medicaid program is the physician bill, hospital bill, long-term care, drugs, medical equipment, laboratory tests, family planning, x-rays, and transportation among other health care services.
b. Effectiveness of the program
The Illinois Medicaid program cannot be classified as one that is very efficient. The reason is that, despite the program being targeted to help low-income earners and people in need of medical assistance like the disabled and the old, the program has not been able to prevent people from middle-income class to enjoy free health care services. In Illinois, there are a big number f people from the middle-income class who are not supposed to benefit from the program, but they end up benefiting. The reason is that the program has not set limits on the extent that the program can accept when it comes to the classes of people that should enjoy the services. For example; the program allows pregnant women to enjoy the service. The program does not put into consideration whether the woman is financially capable or not and this paves the way for fraud to take place in the Illinois healthcare service delivery (Rudman, et al., 2009). This is also the same case when it comes to caring givers or parents of a child who has been born disabled. The reason is that despite the child being with a disability, the parents might have ample financial ability to take care of their child's medical bills and the program only left for the l ...

1)
Obesity has become a common and problematic epidemic within the United States in which communities are gathering in forces to provide prevention tactics for the individuals as well as family oriented to encourage healthier lifestyle choices. Currently today an estimate of about 39% of the population struggled with obesity and unfortunately about 18.5% of these overweight categories were centered on youth in particular (Kelly, 2019). Being obese adds to increased risk of various kinds of debilitating illnesses and the criteria for obesity has now been clearly defined by the measurement of the body mass index in which health providers can effectively begin aggressive prevention once diagnosed. Heart disease, diabetes, psychological, and lifestyle issues with supposed potential cancers have been researched in the overall illness range that obesity influences (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2018). Contributing factors that increase the likelihood of overweight tendencies surface from genetic and socioeconomic influences. Those who have family that struggle with weight gain are highly likely to struggle also. Ethnic races have shown Hispanic and African American are the highest rates on obesity, 50% in both, while Caucasian and Asian are the lowest ranging scale of 37% to 12%. (Healthy People 2020, 2019).
Tactics to promote healthy lifestyles within a community are bringing awareness and prevention opportunities for families and individuals who acknowledged the risk factors of certain obesity formation. Individual or family adapted health behavior changes, prompts to encourage walking paths, trails, or public organizations that encourage healthy lifestyle such as the YMCA , enhanced school-based physical education with nutrition promotion and media campaigns that deliver the messages by television, social media, newspaper or radio are strong community strategies that can address the obesity epidemic today.
We as nurses can act as role models by educating the public on nutrition and obesity related problems. A healthy diet is a key component to reducing weight gain and overall health. As a community health nurse, the opportunity to closely work with people in providing education and healthier choices that help people feel they have options for nutrition can be seen as a personal counselor to develop goals and a plan for positive achievement. A form of exercise to complement the healthy diet can be applied by giving support to help individuals identify a safe and effective activity plan that they will stick to with encouragement to use public outlets. The community nurse can promote change by explaining the risk factors that cause obesity and provide more scientific elements of the health issue. By opening communication through means of community boards, social media, and leaflets or presentations in public areas such as YMCA or Health Department interest can be supported by.
Community activism is defined as actions through which organizations.docxdrandy1
Community activism is defined as actions through which organizations, groups and individual work together to promote economic, social, cultural policies and practice changes. Basically, the key goal of community activism is to endorse actions that decrease health disparities, improve living conditions and enhance community environments. Nowadays, advanced nurse practitioners engage in cooperative and nonstop actions to remove barriers (e.g., social, political, economic barriers, etc.) and change underlying structures aimed to improve the lives of patients subjected to unequal and discriminatory conditions (e.g., minorities groups, LGBTQs, etc.) (Maryland & Gonzalez, 2012).
The key concepts associated with community activism include social justice, praxis, empowerment, critical reflection and consciousness raising. Consciousness raising is a key concept in which is involves the presentation of pertinent information in order to engage with others in critical reflection. Critical reflection is a key concept through which community activists activate possible collective actions and transformations. On the other hand, praxis is a decisive reflective action derived of individual and collective consciousness and theories to create commitment in order to build a justice society (Murphy, 2018).
In addition, empowerment is another key concept that entails processes and results of the implemented transformational actions through which people, communities and organizations increase their control and mastery within political, social and economic frameworks in order to enhance a better quality of life. On the other hand, social justice is a fundamental concept which involves philosophical, public health and political elements embedded in the epitome of human rights and social fairness and impartiality (Murphy, 2018).
Recent data estimates that approximately 38 millions of people are smokers in the United States. Basically, Big Tobacco targets communities such as lower-income ones and creates products which include more addictive substances. These are the key reasons why the prevalence of smokers is higher, particularly among individuals with lower incomes. Therefore, it is crucial that nurses engage in community activism to halt or decrease the negative health impact from Big Tobacco. Some of the actions nurses can implement include the promotion of smoking cessation, education about the negative effects of smoking, increase their understanding of the tobacco industry, and increase awareness about the relationship between smoking and chronic medical conditions such as COPD, cancer, aortic aneurisms, etc. (Savell, Gilmore & Fooks, 2014).
In addition, nurses can alert patients to watch out for deceptions and lies used by these companies to prevent them from quitting. Moreover, nurses must alert smokers the multiple strategies these companies implement to increase their addiction, for instance; several studi.

Forty years ago, the Region of the Americas played a critical JeanmarieColbert3
Forty years ago, the Region of the Americas played a critical role in the develop-
ment and negotiation of the Alma-Ata Declaration, which identified primary health
care as a central strategy to the goal of health for all and a comprehensive approach to
the organization of health systems. Since then, the values and principles of primary
health care, which include the right to health, equity, solidarity, social justice and par-
ticipation, and multisectoral action, among others, have formed the basis of many
PAHO mandates and have guided health systems transformation in the Region. The
positive impact of primary health care on the reduction of mortality, morbidity, and
inequities in health is well known. (1) What’s more, primary health care consumes less
financial resources than curative approaches and promotes a chain of positive results
from improved health to increased economic output, growth and productivity. (2)
In 2007, PAHO’s position paper on Renewing Primary Health Care in the Americas
included the definition of elements and functions of a primary healthcare-based
health system with the intention of providing guidance to countries as they worked
to transform their systems. (3) In 2014, the 53rd PAHO Directing Council’s resolution
on Universal Access to Health and Universal Health Coverage (4) recognized the
values and principles of Alma-Ata. The resolution urged PAHO Member States to
promote intersectoral action to address social determinants of health and move
toward health systems where all people and communities have access, without any
discrimination, to comprehensive, appropriate and timely, quality health services, as
well as access to safe, effective, and affordable quality medicines, while ensuring that
the use of such services does not expose users to financial difficulties. (4) The Sustai-
nable Health Agenda for the Americas 2018–2030, which represents the commitment
of Member States to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and unfinished
business from previous engagements, established areas of action that reinforce and
complement the recommendations of the Alma-Ata Declaration. These include stren-
gthening the national health authority; tackling health determinants; increasing so-
cial protection and access to quality health services; diminishing health inequalities
among countries and inequities within them; reducing the risk and burden of disease;
strengthening the management and development of health workers; harnessing
knowledge, science, and technology; and strengthening health security. (5)
In the Region, the lessons that have been learned about the primary health care
approach since Alma-Ata have been overwhelmingly positive. We have seen that
countries that have implemented policies and programs based on primary health
care have registered the lowest levels of infant and maternal mortality. Other achie-
vements include improvement in public spending, increase in primary care s ...

BENCHMARK: POPULATION MANAGEMENT PART II 2
INTERVENTION FOR THE AT RISK POPULATION 2
MODULE 6 ASSIGNMENT
An Intervention for the At-Risk Population
Evidence-Based Intervention
One intervention that could be implemented to improve health outcomes or decrease disparities for African Americans living in the inner city is to provide access to affordable healthcare. Lack of access to healthcare is a significant issue facing this population and improving access would help to improve overall health and reduce disparities. One study that supports the intervention of providing access to affordable healthcare for African Americans living in the inner city is a study conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation. The study found that African Americans are more likely than other groups to be uninsured and that lack of insurance is associated with poorer health outcomes (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2016). This shows that improving access to healthcare would be a beneficial intervention for this population. Additionally, this intervention is realistic and appropriate for the people because it would address a significant issue facing African Americans living in the inner city (lack of access to healthcare) and improve their overall health.
A Plan for Implementing the Proposed Intervention
Partnership with community-based groups to raise awareness of available resources and link persons to care would be an integral aspect of a strategy to implement the intervention of providing affordable healthcare access for African Americans who reside in the inner city (Brennan et al., 2008). As an additional step, it would be necessary to include healthcare practitioners to guarantee that patients have access to treatment. For this intervention to be fully implemented, financial backing is essential.
Community and Interprofessional Stakeholders Needed for Collaboration:
a) Community-based organizations
b) Health care providers
c) Funders
Permissions Needed:
a) Permission from community-based organizations to partner and increase awareness of resources
b) Permission from healthcare providers to engage and ensure patients can access care
c) Funding to support the implementation of the intervention
Potential Costs for Implementation:
a) Cost of partnering with community-based organizations
b) Cost of engaging healthcare providers
c) Funding for intervention
Potential Challenges to Implementation
One potential challenge to implementing the intervention of providing access to affordable healthcare for African Americans living in the inner city is that many individuals may not be aware of available resources. This can be addressed by partnering with community-based organizations to increase awareness and connect individuals to care (Brennan et al., 2008). Information about available resources can be disseminated through community events and outreach. Another potential challenge is that healthcare providers may not be willing to engage or may not be abl.

These include stren-
gthening the national health authority; tackling health determinants; increasing so-
cial protection and access to quality health services; diminishing health inequalities
among countries and inequities within them; reducing the risk and burden of disease;
strengthening the management and development of health workers; harnessing
knowledge, science, and technology; and strengthening health security.

In general, reliabilities less than 0.60 are considered to be poor, those in the 0.70 range, acceptable, and those over 0.80 good. Thus, the internal consistency reliability of the measures used in this study can be considered to be acceptable for the job enrichment measure and good for the other measures.
It is important to note that all the negatively worded items in the questionnaire should first be reversed before the items are submitted for reliability tests. Unless all the items measuring a variable are in the same direction, the reliabilities obtained will be incorrect.
A sample of the result obtained for the Cronbach’s alpha test for job enrichment, together with instructions on how it is obtained, is shown in Output 11.3.
The reliability of the job enrichment measure is presented in the first table in Output 11.3. The second table provides an overview of the alphas if we take one of the items out of the measure. For instance, it is shown that if the first item (Jobchar1) is taken out, Cronbach’s alpha of the new three-item measure will be 0.577. This means that the alpha will go down if we take item 1 out of our measure. On the other hand, if we take out item 3, our alpha will go up and become 0.851. Note that, in this case, we would not take out item 3 for two reasons. First, our alpha is above 0.7 so we do not have to take any remedial actions. Second, if we took item 3 out, the validity of our measure would probably decrease. We did not include item 3 for nothing in the original measure!
If, however, our Cronbach’s alpha was too low (under 0.60) then we could use this table to find out which of the items would have to be removed from our measure to increase the interitem consistency. Note that, usually, taking out an item, although improving the reliability of our measure, affects the validity of our measure .

Formal Essay #3: Reporting Information/The Expository Essay
Expository writing is a staple of academic writing. Throughout your academic and professional career, you will be called on to write hundreds of expository articles, reports and essays. A thorough knowledge of this writing form will hold you in good stead all through your career.
What is Expository Writing?
‘Expository’ is a synonym of ‘explanatory’. An expository essay is a piece of writing that explains or informs. It should be based on fact and free of the writer’s prejudices. Opinion is often expressed, but only if it is backed by fact. For example, if someone asked you to write an essay on the causes of World War II, you would write about Germany’s losses in World War I, the Treaty of Versailles, the fall of the Weimar Republic, and the rise of Hitler led Nazism. In other words, everything would be based on verifiable fact.
The expository writing process centers on four activities:
Generate a rough idea or hypothesis.
Find evidence to back up this idea.
Expound on the idea.
Present an argument to back up the idea.
Thus, if you were to say that the Treaty of Versailles was the chief cause of World War II, you would first talk about the conditions of the Treaty of Versailles, the financial condition of Germany after WWI, the ineffectiveness of the Weimar Republic, and how they all led to the rise of Nazism.
Structurally, a piece of expository writing has the following components:
An
introduction
that introduces the central idea you will discuss in the essay.
The
main body
that presents evidence to back up the idea. This is the meat of the essay.
A
conclusion
that presents your idea again in the light of the evidence.
Thus, the central thrust of expository writing should be to build towards proving an argument, fact by fact, piece of evidence by piece of evidence. You will use expository writing a lot throughout your academic life. Most essays that you write in college will be expository in nature. Most writing that you will do in your professional life will involve a lot of expository content as well. In other words, sharpening up this skill will serve you well throughout your life.

Attempt at Eliminating Discrimination
After the civil war, the African American, Hispanics and minorities suffered great discrimination in the workplace in particular and life generally. Precisely during the 1960s these groups went through denial of employment or appropriate wages irrespective of their standard of education being higher than that of their majority counterparts. There was a great debate about discrimination on the basis of color, race, gender or religion. Over the years, some programs have been developed in order to handle or to try and e.

What do you think these films are saying about the pattern of behavior they followed to get them where they wound up in the end, as well as why they followed these patterns of behavior in the first place? In other words, what is the way of thinking or belief system that lead to these characters' behaviors, and what does the film tell us about this way of thinking or belief system? 2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

American Society Cancer
Unit V Assignment
Columbia Southern University
American Society Cancer
American Society Cancer (ASC) is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to eliminating cancer through medical and volunteer
operation in the United States. The activities that ASC engages
includes providing grants and organizing awareness program to
advertise and inform the society about cancer. The gifts offered
are used to fund researchers, serving callers in the National
Cancer Information Centre as well as discovering the links
between cancer and smoke. More than two million people
volunteer with the American Society cancer in more than 3400
offices. ASC also funds scientist dedicated to discovering life-
saving treatments of cancer and develop preventive measures.
The primary aspects that the organization concern with include
prevention, treatment and detection and research on the disease.
American Society Cancer works with the local government
authorities to provide cancer services as well inform the society
about cancer.
The nonprofit organization shares many services with the local
government. Health is among the priorities of any government
hence it is intimately involved in any activities on health. ASC
informs the society about cancer and creates awareness on the
necessity of having a cancer-free society (Davidson et al.,
2. 2015). Also, the organization partners with companies and other
organizations to fund for cancers related activities such as
research on best practices in cancer issues. Besides, the
organization provides the local government with the human
power to engage in delivering different cancer-related activities.
ASC is helped the society to reduce cancer deaths considerably
in the United States. In enhancing effective communication with
external and internal audiences, the organization should apply
the following strategies. Firstly, it should raise awareness and
also equip employees with information and skills. There should
include the formation of a liaison committee to ensure all
stakeholders are involved in the program. Lastly, there should
be a clear communication plan in and out of the organization.
American Society Cancer important objective is to save lives in
the United States. In achieving this objective, the organization
has volunteers working together with the community to create
awareness and treat cancer. ASC gets dedicated to having a
cancer-free society through prevention and treatment of disease.
The volunteer initiative is a supplementary to local government
relationship with the organization purpose and objective
(Crawford et al., 2015). The organization also complements the
role of government in the health sector. More so, the
organization gets a lot of support in relation with cancer. The
national government in collaboration with the local government
offers to fund for different programs. Also, the local
government fund cancer training in partnership with NCCCP
and George Washington Cancer Institution (Hamilton et al.,
2015). The funding is used in the implementation of
comprehensive cancer control and also supports communication
strategies to the local and ensures cancer programs success and
leverage increase in resources supporting the program.
I would mobilize more resources from the local governments to
support comprehensive cancer control. With the support of local
government, I would advocate for more fundraising from
3. different stakeholders. Through this people will be willing to
offer total assistance and contribute positively to cancer
control. Besides, I would support more campaigns to create
awareness about cancer. The community should have enough
information and knowledge about cancer to help eliminate cases
of cancer and save lives. I would use the internet to
communicate and pass the message about cancer to the
community. Online cancer training would help the organization
in training people about cancer and build a big team of service
providers. Lastly, I would upload more information about
cancer online access for people to read. Online coaching and
awareness programs would help communicate about cancer.
However, American Society Cancer faces a lot of challenges
which affects service delivery of the nonprofit organization.
Firstly, the government delays in releasing of grants and
financial support which affects effectiveness and efficiency in
service delivery (Collins et al., 2016). When the organization
gets funded late, it would be not competent in providing
services and supporting employees in their duties. Secondly,
their organization experiences complex legal requirement and
procedures in developing and implementing cancer programs.
There is a challenge in the complex conditions by the local
government as well as the state government on reports from the
survey. The organization is required to file complex information
from many studies and programs (Willons et al., 2015). The
challenges mentioned in the earlier relationship between the
organization and the local governments. There is wastage of
time, the high cost of operation and also reduced morale for the
organization. In managing these issues, I would hire qualified
and dedicated administrative staff to maintain the relationship
with local government.
American Society Cancer faces financial challenges contributed
by high tax for cancer drugs and cancer treatment. The cost of
cancer drugs and cancer operation machine is high for a
4. nonprofit organization to afford. Besides, the procedures for
developing medications due to more time spent on reviewing
drugs (Fojo et al., 2014). Also, there are more economic
regulations required by the government. The government needs
complex processes during application and implementation of the
cancer programs. Lastly, different countries are advocating cut
for health care spending. It affects the mission of achieving a
cancer-free society. The local government and the government
of the state should work closely to ensure global economic and
political factors do not influence the nonprofit organization.
In the project, I have learned that there is a need for all
stakeholders to ensure that they receive support from all parties.
Cancer control requires the involvement of many stakeholders
for better results. The community too has a responsibility to
check on the activities they engage. In my career, I would create
awareness and advocate for community involvement. There is a
need for the use of technology to teach the community about
cancer and the need to have a cancer-free society. The city
should get informed about its crucial role in controlling and
preventing cancer. More nonprofit should join in fighting cancer
and creating public awareness.
