As an intern at DiyaTV, an American broadcast television network aimed at the South Asian community, Keenya McDaniel edited episodes of shows using Adobe Premiere. She added commercial breaks and station logos. Occasionally, she transcribed interviews and scheduled commercials on the station's servers. DiyaTV was founded in 2009 and airs programming in English, Hindi, and other South Asian languages across several television stations, reaching over 25 million Americans. The internship helped McDaniel improve her editing skills using Adobe software and gain experience for a career in video production.

As an intern at DiyaTV, I edited episodes of shows such as; Desi Unplugged,
Colours of India and The Big Picture. I used Adobe Premiere to edit videos to the proper
length, add in commercial breaks and include the station’s bug/logo to each production.
Occasionally, I transcribed DiyaTV interviews. I also helped schedule commercials in
the station’s servers.
DiyaTV was founded in 2009 and is America’s first South Asian broadcast
television network. It was launched by KTSF which is the largest Asian-language
broadcast station in the nation. DiyaTV airs programming in English, Hindi, and other
South Asian languages. The news, entertainment, sports, bollywood films and more that
air can be viewed in several locations. You can catch their programming on KTSF
channel 26.2 in San Francisco, KAXT channel 1.1 in San Jose, KLEG channel 44.3 in
Dalas or WRJK channel 22.3 in Chicago. Ravi Kapur -- DiyaTV’s founder and CEO --
strives to bring great broadcasting to the South Asian community. The station continues
to improve content and new channels are being added -- the most recent station
launched in Fresno. The station reaches over 25 million Americans on DiyaTV’s affilitate
television stations. Kapur -- as well as chief operating officer, Deepti Dawar -- hope to
increase these numbers. They do so by promoting the station through social networking
sites such as Facebook and Twitter, attending important events in the South Asian
community and acquiring funding.
I had the opportunity to intern for DiyaTV. I helped the productions department
edit episodes of shows such as; Desi Unplugged, The Big Picture and Colours of India. I
encoded DiyaTV Spotlight interviews that were later used to write scripts. Occassionally,
I scheduled commercials on the station’s servers.

2. Interning at DiyaTV helped me become a more efficient editor. I learned how to
use Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition. I can now sync video and audio, apply
video and audio transitions, and edit sound waves. The skills I have learned interning for
this station will help me obtain a job in the productions field. It was a great learning
experience and an honor to be a part of the DiyaTV team!
