Moving Ahead in Challenging Times
The RSPO, during its short but productive existence, has faced up

to and provided solutions to criticisms from a global spectrum of

stakeholders. Like many other organizations, RSPO has not been

spared the ripples from the global financial meltdown, with main

concerns about the relevance of more costly certified palm oil in

already cash-strapped markets.

2009 has been a year of growth and consolidation - 34 operating

units from 11 companies certified with a production capacity of

~1.75 million tonnes of sustainable palm oil. The Principles & Criteria

and their assessment methodologies have been further refined.
