Brief History 1986 – Bio-Chemical Engineering degree at Swansea University 1986-87 – Trainee Army officer at RMA Sandhurst 1987-89 – IT support for software supplier to process/chemical/ energy industries, Cambridge 1989-91 – IT support in Wimpey Offshore & Engineering Contractors, Hammersmith British Gas plc/Centrica plc 1991-1993 – IT in Central Control Dept, National Transmission, Marble Arch, London. 1993-1994 – Business Process Re-engineering project to separate British Gas plc into Transco and British Gas Trading. 1995-97 –  Network Code  commercial development & IT systems required to be a shipper 1997-99 – sponsored modular  MBA  at Henley Management College
Brief History #2 Centrica plc 1998-2000 –  Centrica North American  entry strategy. potential $7bn merger with North-east USA utility KeySpan Energy in ‘99 successful £406m acquisition of Canadian Direct Energy in 2000. 2001 –  UK Power generation   entry strategy £173.5m acquisition of TXU Europe’s Peterborough and King’s Lynn power stations. This involved negotiating first ever sub-leases under complex lease-in/lease-out cross-USA border agreements that TXU had entered into.   2002-03 –  Centrica Energy Head of Strategy . developed new global energy supply and asset investment strategy. presented and received Board approval & managed presentation to City Analysts by MD. resulted in £5bn investments in new LNG, gas, power, & renewable assets over 5 years. 2004-2008 -  UK Power Generation & Renewables management running 7 power stations (£1bn book value and annual budget of £85m) organic investments of £1.2bn in new gas-fired power station and 2 onshore & 4 offshore wind-farms. change management  (new national organisation structure, portfolio-wide systems) and integrating new assets. managing inherent & emerging risks  (reporting to Centrica Audit Committee). also company representative for AEP membership.
