2. Young Rosa Parks Rosa Parks was born on February 4, 1913. Rosa lived in Pine Level, Alabama. When Rosa was young she lived with her mom, brother, grandma and grandpa. She was black and because of that she couldn’t be with white people. White people thought black people were not as good as whites. So they stayed separate.
3. Education Rosa and her brother had to walk to school because they were black and couldn’t ride in the school bus. Also white people got a bigger school then black people did. Sometimes when her brother and she came home from school white kids on the bus would throw trash at them. Rosa was good at school. Her grade was A+.
4. Adult life and career When Rosa grew up she married Raymond Parks in 1932, and moved to Montgomery, Alabama . Rosa was a lawyer for black people to have equal rights . She met Martin Luther King For her job. Rosa and her husband moved to Detroit, Michigan to march for civil rights.
5. Accomplishments Rosa accomplished a lot in her life. Here are some of them. One time when a white passenger on a bus asked her to move she didn’t. She was sick of people pushing black people around. She had to go to jail, but she got to leave before the night ended because her husband came to get her. Five days later she had to go to court. She was found guilty. Rosa had to stay in jail for 3 months. Another accomplishment is that black people got some equal rights but there is still lots to be done. In 1996 President Clinton awarded her the Medal Of Freedom. Detroit, Michigan named a street after her Rosa Parks Boulevard.
6. Impact on the World Rosa had a big impact in both the United States and the world. She helped black people to be the same as white people. She showed this matters because nobody is better then some one else.
7. Date and Cause of Death On October 24 2005 at the age of 92 Rosa died in her apartment in Detroit. She had been diagnosed with dementia in 2004 and died a year later.
