It perfects Christian character.-<br />Literally means abiding under.<br />The root idea of the word is that of remaining under some discipline, subjecting one’s self to something which demands the submission of the will to something against which one naturally would rebel.<br />The word has the idea of the ability to continue working in the face of strong opposition and great obstacles.<br />The word portrays a picture of steadfastly and unflinchingly bearing up under a heavy load and describes that quality of character which does not allow one to surrender to events in one’s life and to give up under trial. <br />It is not the spirit that lies down and lets the floods go over it, but it is the spirit which meets the trial head on.<br />It has the idea that with Christ you can cope with life; it is the strength which has the ability to accept things, and in accepting them, changes then into glory.-<br />Means the spirit which overcomes the world, by actively overcoming the trials of life.<br />Romans 5:3-5 summarize the process of Christian maturity and sanctification, which is accomplished by God’s grace or transforming power. I Thessalonians 5:23-24.<br />Salvation does not purify your character, you take a bitter, anger, mean person and get him saved, and you have a bitter, angry, and a mean Christian. That is a transaction that occurs on a Divine side. <br />What salvation does, it plants in you the capacity to be perfected, and the removal process begins and the Lord uses trials and suffering and when they come into your life, you rejoice. Why? Because they are making you stronger and proving your character. I Thessalonians 3:3.<br />Paul wrote three chapters of Romans about man’s failure before God’s law before he explained the doctrine of justification. He obviously thought that sinners needed to know the true nature of their lost and fallen condition. Sinners need to know what it means to be lost, and that one day they shall face the holy and righteous Judge. They need to know clearly that they have disobeyed God’s law and desperately need a savior. Those who preach the law and the gospel are preaching for conversions, not just religious followers<br />
