• Elvis Presley was born on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo,
Mississippi. He had a brother who was stillborn.
• He was inspired by gospel music in church and the blues
music he would hear on the streets.
• Elvis was drafted into the army in
1958 and in 1960 he signed a contract
to play in movies for several years.
• On August 16th, 1977 he died in his
bathroom in Memphis, Tennessee.
The exact cause of his death is unknown.
Little Richard
• Little Richard was born on December 5th, 1932 in Macon,
Georgia. His real name is Richard Wayne Penniman.
• When he was only 15, his father kicked
him out of his house after he suspected
he was gay. (And he is, in fact.)
• Little Richard inspired many artists
including Elvis Presley with his suggestive
lyrics and intense piano playing.
• He is still performing and doing shows
at age 81 despite his recent heart attack.
Jerry Lee Lewis
• Jerry Lee Lewis was born on September 29th, 1035 in
Ferriday, Louisiana. He is known as “The Killer”.
• He moved to Memphis, Tennessee to
audition for Sun Records. He was an instant
hit with his groovy, rock piano sound.
• He was inducted in the Rock and Roll
and Country Music Hall of Fame due to his
great amount of success worldwide.
• Even today, Jerry Lee Lewis continues
to perform (just a bit slower now!)
