He met Priscilla in 1959 while serving in the army in Germany and they married in 1967, having one daughter together. In 1973, his "Aloha from Hawaii" concert had a global audience of over 1 billion and raised $75,000 for charity. He was found unresponsive at his home in 1977 at the age of 42.
