Resolution enhancement (RE) schemes which are not based on wavelets has one of the major drawbacks of losing high frequency contents which results in blurring. The discrete wavelet- transform-based (DWT) Resolution Enhancement scheme generates artifacts (due to a DWT shift-variant property). A wavelet- Domain approach based on dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT) & nonlocal means (NLM) is proposed for RE of the satellite images. A satellite input image is decomposed by DT-CWT (which is nearly shift invariant) to obtain high-frequency sub bands. Here the Lanczos interpolator is used to interpolate the highfrequency sub bands & the low-resolution (LR) input image. The high frequency sub bands are passed through an NLM filter to cater for the artifacts generated by DT-CWT (despite of it’s nearly shift invariance). The filtered high-frequency sub bands and the LR input image are combined by using inverse DTCWT to obtain a resolution-enhanced image. Objective and subjective analyses show superiority of the new proposed technique over the conventional and state-of-the-art RE techniques.

The proposed system presents power-control strategies of a Micro grid-connected hybrid generation system with versatile power transfer. This hybrid system allows maximum utilization of freely available renewable energy sources like wind and photovoltaic energies. For this, an adaptive MPPT algorithm along with standard perturbs and observes method will be used for the system. The inverter converts the DC output from non-conventional energy into useful AC power for the connected load. This hybrid system operates under normal conditions which include normal room temperature in the case of solar energy and normal wind speed at plain area in the case of wind energy. However, designing an optimal micro grid is not an easy task, due to the fact that primary energy carriers are changeable and uncontrollable, as is the demand. Traditional design and optimization tools, developed for controlled power sources, cannot be employed here. Simulation methods seem to be the best solution. The dynamic model of the proposed system is first elaborated in the stationary reference frame and then transformed into the synchronous orthogonal reference frame. The transformed variables are used in control of the voltage source converter as the heart of the interfacing system between DG resources and utility grid. By setting an appropriate compensation current references from the sensed load currents in control circuit loop of DG, the active, reactive, and harmonic load current components will be compensated with fast dynamic response, thereby achieving sinusoidal grid currents in phase with load voltages, while required power of the load is more than the maximum injected power of the DG to the grid. In addition, the proposed control method of this paper does not need a phase-locked loop in control circuit and has fast dynamic response in providing active and reactive power components of the grid-connected loads.

Cement is a core component of concrete; its properties affect the properties of concrete made using the particular type of cement. Unsuitable choice of cement in construction work involving use of concrete can affect the integrity of the construction work. This work was aimed at studying some selected physical properties of some cement brands produced in Nigeria. The selected brands are Ashaka, Sokoto, Dangote, Rhino and Elephant. The properties studied are fineness, consistency, soundness and compressive strength. The study was carried out by laboratory investigation and the tests were as prescribed in BS 4550. All the brands tested exhibited properties that meet the requirements of the appropriate BS and ASTM standards. All the brands tested were able to develop a minimum compressive strength of 33.5N/mm2 which means they meet the grade 32.5 rating. Elephant cement on the other hand was able to attain strength of 23.5N/mm2 at 28 days which means that it is not suitable structural concrete works.

The Network administrators usually rely on generic and built-in monitoring tools for network security. Ideally, the network infrastructure is supposed to have carefully designed strategies to scale up monitoring tools and techniques as the network grows, over time. Without this, there can be network performance challenges, downtimes due to failures, and most importantly, penetration attacks. These can lead to monetary losses as well as loss of reputation. Thus, there is a need for best practices to monitor network infrastructure in an agile manner. Network security monitoring involves collecting network packet data, segregating it among all the 7 OSI layers, and applying intelligent algorithms to get answers to security-related questions. The purpose is to know in real-time what is happening on the network at a detailed level, and strengthen security by hardening the processes, devices, appliances, software policies, etc. The Multi Router Traffic Grapher, or just simply MRTG, is free software for monitoring and measuring the traffic load on network links. It allows the user to see traffic load on a network over time in graphical form.

Granite cutting plant is one such industry that releases polluting and turbid effluent. The residue from all these processes is discharged with water as an effluent. The effluent mainly contains many solids that harm the environment. Hence it requires treatment techniques before disposal. Several conventional methods are available for removal of contaminants like coagulation, adsorption, polyelectrolyte methods and biological methods. Most of them are cost prohibitive. The reduction of solids concentration in the effluent before disposal by using the techniques, coagulation followed by adsorption using natural adsorbents, like rice husk carbon and saw dust carbon, in contrast to the usage of activated carbon as it is costly. From a local Granite cutting plant near Anantapur, the effluent is collected and its physico-chemical characteristics are estimated and found to be pH(7.5), TS(4240mg/l), TSS(21560mg/l), TDS(12373mg/l).Effluent obtained is subjected to coagulation by potash alum followed by adsorption using saw dust carbon and rice husk carbon.
