3. INTRODUCTION
Rashtriya Kishor swasthya karyakram(RKSK) was launched on 7th
Jan. 2014 by MoHFW, for the adolescent boys and girls of age 10-
19 years.
To address their Reproductive Health, Substance Abuse and
Nutritional Issue.
It’s fundamental principles are Equity & Inclusion, Adolescent
Leadership and Participation.
RKSK focuses on addressing the health issue of 243 million
adolescents through intervention that are community based.
4. VISION
Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram envisages ensuring the
following:
To enable all adolescents to become more equipped with making
responsible and informed life choices.
Receiving services and support is essential for adolescents to maintain
health and well-being.
5. Comprehending the challenges related to their health and development.
Confirming an effective transition to adulthood.
Considering the multi-dimensional health requirements and concerns of
adolescents at different stages.
7. 1. Improve Nutrition
Reduce the prevalence of malnutrition among
adolescent girls and boys
Reduce the prevalence of Iron-deficiency Anemia
among adolescent girls and boys
8. 2. Improve Sexual & Reproductive Health
Improve knowledge, attitude and behaviour in
relation to sexual reproductive health
Reduce teenage pregnancies
Prevent STDs
10. 4.Prevent Injury and Violence
Encourage favourable behaviour to prevent violent tendencies
11. 5. Prevent Substance Misuse
Increasing awareness of
adverse effects and
consequences of substance
misuse
12. 6. Address Non-Communicable Diseases
Promote behavioural change among adolescent to control NCDs
including Diabetes, HTN, Stroke, Cancer, etc.
13. Target Groups
The Adolescent Health strategy aims at 10 to 14
years and 15 to 19 years with universal coverage.
That means it includes both males and females of
all urban and rural areas, studying in and out of
school, married as well as unmarried and under-
served and vulnerable.

Quarterly Adolescent Health Day (AHD)
Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation Programme (WIFS)
Menstrual Hygiene Scheme (MHS)
II) Facility-based interventions to strengthen Adolescent Friendly Health Clinics
(AFHC)
