RITA’S TRIP TO EPCOT CENTER
ORLANDO, FL
How many countries can you name? What does culture
mean and what is your culture?
Rita is excited
about her trip to
Epcot Center with
her family. She
wants to learn more
about the different
countries and their
culture and see
some exciting
dancing and colorful
buildings.
Origin has several definitions. Look up and find the correct definition
of origin that Rita is referring too. Then find out the origin of the
Statue of Liberty in New York.
Rita was in awe
when she saw the
Torii Gate that is
just like the one in
Japan. She
learned that there
is a symbolic gate.
However, the
origins of the Torii
Gate were unknown.
Next up on Rita’s
list was the Mexico
Pavillion. There she
saw the famous
Aztec Temple. She
learned that priests
went to this temple
to worship and pray
to God.
There are many places where people go to worship and pray. What is
the temple called that you or someone you know goes to worship?
What is the title of the person who is the world religious leader of the
Catholics? What does he do?
Rita could not help
but run to the
Norway Pavilion.
The buildings were
so colorful!! She
saw replicas of
historical buildings
that she wanted to
learn more about
later.
Name five historical buildings in the United States
CLASS ACTIVITY – MAKING A REPLICA BUILDING
For this project, you will need a cardboard, box of sugar cubes, and
glue. Make a replica of the Empire State Building in New York. It is
was previously the tallest building in America. What is the largest
building in America? What is the largest building in the world?
1. Place your cardboard on the table.
2. Spread out the sugar cubes.
3. Make a base for the building but gluing
8 rows of sugar cubes together.
4. Repeat step 3 until you have 3 rows
for the base.
5. Start building up with 6 sugar cubes
until you have 10 rows.
6. Continue building until you have a
replica of the Empire State Building.
7. See figure 1 for example of the
original building and the replica made
from sugar cubes.
Congratulations on making a replica of a historical building!!
Rita thought the
Germany Pavilion
was so beautiful.
She wanted to
learn about the
Cologne
Cathedral, a
famous landmark
of Germany.
Name a famous landmark from the place where you were born. What
made it famous?
Rita learned an
interesting fact
about the Morocco
Pavilion. The King
of Morocco sent his
own craftsmen over
to help with the
architect of the
building. How
wonderful of the
King to help Disney!
Do some research and find out how many countries have Kings
today.
Finally, Rita
found some
music! She went
to the British
Revolution place
at the World
Showcase and a
British band was
playing music.
What is a revolution? Can you name 3 revolutions that took place in
Europe?
Rita had so much
fun at Epcot
Center! She
cannot wait to go
there next year
and learn more
about the
different
countries and
their traditions!
