Rihanna was born in 1988 in Barbados. She attended Combermere high school where she won talent and beauty contests. A friend introduced her to American music producer Evan Rogers who helped Rihanna produce a demo album. Music producer Jay-Z heard Rihanna's album and signed her to his label Def Jam records. Rihanna's third album "Good Girl Gone Bad" was her most successful worldwide, featuring the hit "Umbrella". She has won numerous awards including Grammys and MTV Video Music Awards.
