This document discusses the potential for a virtual Jingpo/Kachin techno-community online. It notes that while Jingpo and Kachin share a cultural identity in the real world, their online representations differ according to whether they live in China or Burma due to differences in economic development and political goals between the countries. The document outlines an empirical study analyzing websites, blogs, online groups and videos related to Jingpo/Kachin identity to understand trends in their online representations and cultural transactions. It aims to determine if new online spaces are altering the transnational perception and expression of Jingpo/Kachin culture.
