The document proposes a game show called "YouPlay" targeted at teenage geography students. Dear Interactive TV I have thought about your letter addressing the opportunity of producing
a game show for media enthusiasts and I would like to say that I accept the chance of creating
a game show that can appeal to a niche audience with new technology. I have looked at all of
the topics and features that create a successfulgame show ; it helps me to understand the
basics of a game show. These factors are an engaging host, USP and to involve drama and

A range of TV Game Shows use a celebrity to host the show to attract a target audience. From
the audience having recognition of the host it will help them to have a better connection with
the show. For instance, Davina McCall is the presenter of The Million Pound Drop. She is
known from being a previous host on other shows such as Big Brother (a reality game show).
Davina is represented as a sophisticated and friendly presenter who cares for the contestants
trying to win the million pounds. This help to create a positive atmosphere in the tense show
to allow the contestants to feel comfortable and the audience can easily watch the show.
Other shows such as Celebrity Juice include a character presenter that has be created
especially for the show because it allow the audience to understand the content of the
programme. Keith Lemon is extremely rude and outgoing which matches the content of the
show. The most significant factor about Keith is his humour. He is always creating a funny
atmosphere for the contestants to ensure the audience can enjoy the programme as they see
the humorous side to their favourite celebrities.
Celebrity Juice is controversial because of its unique content. It always involves the
celebrities who are with the modern trends such as "Charlotte Crosby" who is off of a popular
show "Geordie Shore". This appeals to the audience as they recognise the celebrities featured.

2. The drama and excitement in Celebrity Juice is created from the celebrities slightly relaxing
with their friends, however they face different challenges for the chance to gain points. This
isn’t the only factor, the celebrities do not always relax because the host can humiliate the
celebrities to create excitement for the audience because they can potentially find out new
secrets about their favourite famous people.
In the Million Pound Drop excitement is formed from the tense atmosphere. The contestants
will either have to place all of their money on one of the shoots or separate it onto different
shoots. Gambling with the chance to drop or take home the one million pounds. The audience
will gain a connection with the contestants because they go through the same emotions as the
people playing. The excitement builds as the audience puts themselves in the tense situation
of the contestant. No other show offers a high amount of money for answering challenging
questions by placing money on shoots. This intrigues the audience as they have never seen a
programme to offer this entertainment.

3. Task 2
The target audience of my game show is teenagers. I have decided that for the show to appeal
to them that the audience should be narrowed down to become niche. They are most likely in
the later years of high school and study geography. They can use their geographical
knowledge and apply it to the situations that are involved on the game show.
The niche audience will enjoy a connection will geography and reallife situations however
will also enjoy a challenge with the situations and the actions. These features will apply to my
game show as the contestants will be on teams of three to battle against one another for a
chance to win money and a trip to a European country. I decided to aim the show at y a
younger audience to ensure that they will have creativity and they can further extend their
geographical knowledge for later in life.
The host of my game show will have a great sense of humour to allow them to have fun with
the contestants to lower the level of being serious. They will be not famous so I can keep the
aim of a niche audience. If they were famous it would interest more people as they would
know the qualities of the presenter and judge with them if they would like the show.
The show will be aired at 4:30pm on a Wednesday. Most mainstream game shows feature at
8pm after most work hours so more viewers can be produced. Teenagers will have finished
school at 4:30pm so they can get home and watch the show.
The contestants will be on two teams of three. The audience can vote using the app to decide
the captain to create excitement as one person will take on the role of being in charge. The
panels will be of three so the contestants can work together to ensure they have a competitive
answer.
Set or Studio
This follows the same structure as the Celebrity Juice studio because I felt when
watching the programme that it helped to create an open and more relaxing mood with
the stressful tasks that the contestants will be put under.
The host will be sat in the middle because it balances out the studio. The desk will be
the Earth to involve the main theme of world geography. In front will be the live
audience who can watch the show live to get a true understanding of how the show is
placed together and ran. Also it will give them better knowledge of how the
contestants will act in the competitive environment.

4. Task 3
My game show will use online media to make “YouPlay” be interactive. One way of
interaction with media is the use of social media. YouPlay has four different social
media platforms, twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat. The audience will be
able to ask questions through messages, pictures or videos for the host or contestants
to answer. The tweets, messages, pictures or videos will be shown on the show to help
the audience to have an interaction with the programme as they potentially see their
view on the TV being spoken about. Encouraging the audience to have participation
because they can hear other opinions on a question they have raised attention to.
YouPlay features an app, which is a place there the audience can vote or can play a
game. The game puts the audience in a situation of them becoming a cartoon
character that will take on different natural disasters to save the civilians. This can
help them to make better judgement on who will win in the final round on the show as
they can develop the skill to see whether or not the contestant has the correct qualities
to make the right decisions.
My final use of media is a website. It includes many different features to interest the
audience. The audience can watch interviews of the presenter or contestants. This will
help to connect the audience to the show as they get to know the people involved.
Also with the interviews the audience can see whether or not they have similar
characteristics to the contestants to see if they have a chance of winning the show
