Reverberation occurs when a steady sound in a room takes time to reach a steady-state value and continues to be heard after the source stops due to successive reflections. It affects the perception of transient sounds and enhances both speech intelligibility and music enjoyment. This phenomenon is significant in enclosed spaces where sound reflects off surfaces.

1. REVERBERATION- When a steady sound is generated in a room, the sound pressure
gradually builds up and it takes some time for it to reach its steady-state value.
When the source of sound has stopped, a noticeable time will elapse before the sound
dies away to inaudibility.
This prolongation of sound as a result of successive reflections in an enclosed space
after the source of sound is turned off is called reverberation.
Reverberation modifies the perception of transient sounds, sound which start or stop
suddenly. It enhances the intelligibility of speech and enjoyment of music.
