Dear Sir/Madam,
I am very interested in joining your well-known institute. I have a PhD in Animal Biotechnology
and I am a holder of permanent residency status in the United States.
Aside from my educational and research background, I have more than six years of experience in
college level teaching which included courses such as genetics, animal breeding and nutrition to the
veterinary college students. In addition, I am well versed running and maintaining Agilent UPLC-
and nano-LC MS Q-TOF. I have also experience running other mass spectrometry systems (e.g. AB
Sciex (MALDI TOF) and Thermo Fisher Scientific (Orbitrap)). I have been working as Mass
Spectrometry manager running Agilent UPLC and LC MS Q-TOF 6550.
Using proteomics and metabolomics approaches; I have conducted intensive research
throughout past several years. Based on my research, I have five years of successful experience in
working with different proteomics platforms such as: SDS PAGE, Two Dimensional Gel
Electrophoresis (2D PAGE), MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry, Liquid Chromatography Mass
Spectrometry (LC MS/MS), and isotope labeling and non-labeling relative quantitation.
I am well versed in using different proteomics software for data acquisition (MassHunter),
qualitative data analysis (MassHunter Qual), protein identification (Spectrum Mill), Gene Ontology
analysis (Blast2GO and scaffold), non-labeling relative quantitation (Mass Profiler Professional),
absolute quantification of proteins (MassHunter Quant), pathway analysis (Mass Profiler
Professional and KEGG data base), and protein-protein interaction (STRING). As integrative biology
is the most attractive approach in the modern molecular biology studies, I have used the LC MS/MS for
metabolomics investigations. Furthermore, I have used different databases such as: Human Metabolome,
Lipid maps and KEGG on regular basis as well as being familiar with RT-PCR and DNA fragmentation
test.
Additionally, I am familiar with grant proposal writing since I have prepared a grant proposal for
my research and have been able to successfully secure funds from the Ministry of Science Technology
and Innovation of Malaysia.
I am enclosing my resume for your consideration. As I found your institute as one of the
advanced institute in the field of metabolomics and proteomics, I look forward to hear from you about
any opportunity in your research team.
Sincerely,
Ali Ashrafzadeh
