Xcel Energy / Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant – Welch, MN May 2015 – August 2015
Programs Engineering Intern
Assisted in the determination of operability for reactor vessel baffle former bolts by finding and analyzing plant
power up and power down data to calculate thermal stresses and fatigue cycles induced
Qualified under the Boric Acid Corrosion Control Program to evaluate boric acid leaks from plant structures such
as pipes, valves and flanges, as well as recommend actions needed to service leaks based on severity
Performed thermal stress calculations on pipe connections between the reactor coolant line and auxiliary spray
lines to ensure swirl penetrations due to temperature gradients are within operating limits
Internal Combustion Engines Research Lab – Coral Gables, FL January 2015 – May 2015
Cooling Systems Engineering
Designed and constructed a cooling tower for a hydrogen engine which allowed the removal of radiator fans and
implemented a system capable of cooling 60,000 BTUs per hour, and freeing 8 percent of available horsepower
Procured high-performance radiators to be tested for their cooling capabilities in BTUs per minute versus air
flow across the radiator versus pressure drop, to create multiple radiator performance curve maps
Performed preliminary heat transfer and finite element analysis calculations in order to determine the most viable
option between different cooling tower shape configurations
Xcel Energy / Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant – Welch, MN May 2014 – August 2014
Mechanical Design Engineering Intern
Reduced the number of engineering changes requiring completion by conducting field walk downs and producing
support calculations with Design and System engineers to back the cancellation of changes
Analyzed pipe stresses in various system components using analytical methods to calculate maximum loading
under fluctuating conditions to verify adequacy of implemented structures
Served as an escort to un-badged plant personnel to ensure their safety and maintain the nuclear safety culture
WOFL FOX 35 News – Lake Mary, FL July 2010 – November 2010
Web Producer Intern
Analyzed internet data trends throughout company’s website using statistical methods to pinpoint user interest
in order to optimize subject delivery experience
Partnered with News Department and Web Design teams to produce unique content and innovative graphics
using Adobe CS 7 to enhance visual experience
Created interactive modules for the Weather Department’s web page using knowledge of ActionScript and HTML
in order to bring a more intuitive and user-friendly experience
