To whom it may concern,
My name is Caleb Whitaker. I am a 17 year old Year 12 student currently completing my HSC
at ASC St Mary’s Campus Maitland, seeking to gain acceptance into the Australian Defence
Force Academy as an Aerospace Engineering Officer (Electronics).
I am interested in this role in the Air Force as I have a passion for electronics and the associated
systems within aircraft and related support apparatus, I believe this can be used to lead and
inspire a team to maintain a high level efficiency and safety throughout the maintenance of
these systems.
I believe the communication skills I have attained through working at Bunnings Warehouse
will aid me to effectively convey information to a team. Furthermore, the ‘team’ environment
present in the store will directly aid my transition into Academy life and the Air Force.
My ability to learn and achieve in a high pressure environment is evident throughout my year
11 studies and will assistin working in a military environment. Furthermore,following orders
given in a work environment has given me the ability to prioritise and work as efficiently as
possible. The subjects I have chosen to study in relation to electronics engineering include
Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, and Extension 1 Mathematics as I believe these will give me
an overviewofthe topic and the necessary fundamental skills to apply in the Electrical
Engineering course.
Personal characteristics such as a competitive drive to succeed has enabled me to maintain a
good level offitness in a sporting lifestyle and a high level ofachievement in an academic
environment. I believe this will be useful in the challenging environment ofthe Air Force to
develop the required skills ofan Aerospace Engineering Officer.
I hope that I can continue to progressthrough the application progress to gain acceptance into
the Australian Defence Force Academy.
