Joseph Blum Jr has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. He received certificates and some college credits but did not complete a degree. He worked as a direct care worker before joining General Motors as a wood model maker in 1983. At GM, he held several roles including project manager and CAD CAM supervisor. As project manager, he oversaw projects from design through completion, including outsourcing work. His most notable project was the 2013 Cadillac ELR introduced at the Detroit Auto Show. Currently he supervises CNC programming and milling operations on the second shift.
