Professional Experience
Student Researcher, UCI Department of Physiology & Biophysics, Irvine, CA May 2014 – July 2014
This position provided me the opportunity to work closely one-on-one with a Postdoctoralresearcher in a
government-funded research lab. The work environment was extremely sanitary/organized due to handling of
carcinogenic chemicals and strictly self-motivated with minimal supervision. Tasks involved dissecting Drosophila
brains, designing primers to synthesize plasmids, culturing various bacterial cells, transferring plasmids into bacteria
vectors using molecular cloning techniques, and analyzing results using DNA electrophoresis and immunostaining
techniques.
Tutor/Office Assistant, Premier Academy, San Marino, CA August 2011 – June 2012
During the time I worked at Premier, I developed stress control/problemsolving skills, patience, and tolerance from
tutoring homework-resisting kids. I had to interact with a variety of kids ranging from K-8th grade each with their
own personality. Occasionally, I would file papers, greet guests, translate, and perform other office duties when
needed.Initially, I was told that there were more qualified applicants (college students)for the position but because I
was the first to apply, I was given a chance to prove myself; got the job the same day.
