This document discusses the restoration of dune grassland habitats in Belgium. It provides background on the different types of dune grassland and the threats they face, such as habitat loss, succession, recreational pressure, and atmospheric deposition. Restoration efforts in Belgium include scrub and woodland removal, livestock grazing, mowing, and sod cutting across over 1,000 hectares. Monitoring shows that these techniques help reduce scrub cover and encourage the return of target plant and animal species. However, challenges remain around nutrient levels and the effects of climate change on the restoration of these important coastal habitats.
