Leidy Guarin is nominated for Resident Assistant of the Month for her outstanding service and advocacy for her residents. She has made a huge impact since first meeting her as an orientation leader, where she demonstrated curiosity and a desire to get involved. As a Resident Assistant, she cares deeply for her residents' wellbeing and feedback, spearheading new health initiatives and advocating for a resident with disabilities. Leidy sets the standard for being an advocate and role model, deserving recognition for her passion and commitment to residents.

As an Orientation Leader in the'summer of zon,I came across students of different majors,
backgrounds and inierestslThere were students who asked many questions and some who stayed quiet.
There were some that had hopes and dreams of getting involved and becoming a leader, and some who
just wanted to get away from home. There were some students that made their mark on orientation and
others that just wanted to register for. classes. Of the many students I met over that adventure of a
summer, I have never been more proud to still know and now work with Leidy Guarin.
. Frorrr the very beginning, I knew that Leidy would be one of those students that would make a huge
impact on me and'many others at the LJniversity of North Texas. She is someone who, from the moment
ybu meet her, you see the spark in her personality and the sincerity in her intentions. She was one of the
students that stood out to me most that sumrner because she was curiousl she asked questions about how
she can get involved and how to be a better student. She made friends, connections and memories that
mean so much in just those three short days. This all happened nearly threelrears ago, but that attitude
and mindset has stayed with her to this day, and it has led to her making an incredible impact on our
housing department. When you speak to Leidy, you ha.re her attention, and she is present with you in that
moment. Her sweet and encouraging words to those around her and that intentionality behind her
character describe a fantastic, fabulous, wonderful woman that has exceled as a Resident Assistant at
College Inn and a leader among her Residence Life Advisor peers; someone who is trusted and loved by
all.
InJanuary, Leidy stood out to me like never before and I saw that she cares more about her
residents than any RA,I have ever worked with. As one of the Ethics, Concerns and Feedback
Representatives for College Inn, Leidy act as liaisons between her staff and dhe central housing office to
always make improvements to residence life. Leidy is a stellar representative for [er hall, and it showed
like never before when she gave us feedback about the quality of her wing, her resident's concerns, and
how it could all be better. The passion and thoughtfulness behind her love and respect for her residents
blew me away. Leidy sets the standard for being an advocate for the wellbeing of-your hall, your residents
and yourself. This again showed when she spearheaded a new health and wellness initiative this semester
with her staff and residents: early morning rntrr, to be more healthy and one day lead to a staff 5k. On top
of these akeady arnazing aspects of Leidy Guarin, she has also become the biggest advocate for one of her
former residents, Emily, who has a disability and is trying to raise money so she can walk the stage at
graduation this May. Leidy has been posting the link to Emily's cause all over social media and spreading
the word to as many people as she can, including speaking at a Residence Life Advisor Council meeting to
raise awareness.
Leidy is a beautiful soul, a role model RA, and the impressively, most recently and rightfully
deserved recipient of the "Outstanding Service and Professionalism" award for frer hall. She deserves all
of the recognition in the world for Resident Assistant of the Month for January.
