Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Collecting, Writing, and Publishing via “Research Tools”Nader Ale Ebrahim
“Research Tools” enable researchers to collect, organize, analyze, visualize and publicized research outputs. I have collected over 700 tools that enable researchers to follow the correct path in research and to ultimately produce high-quality research outputs with more accuracy and efficiency. “Research Tools” consists of a hierarchical set of nodes. It has four main nodes: (1) Searching the literature, (2) Writing a paper, (3) Targeting suitable journals, and (4) Enhancing visibility and impact of the research. This presentation will provide an overview to the most important tools from searching literature to publishing researchers outputs. The e-skills learned from the workshop are useful across various research disciplines and research institutions.
Maximizing Your Research Visibility and Impact: A Step-by-Step Guide Session ...Nader Ale Ebrahim
Research visibility and impact are essential for maximizing the reach of research and thus facilitating the advancement of knowledge and progress. One of the key ways to increase research visibility and impact is to expose the research output to the widest possible audience. Publishing a high-quality paper in a scientific journal is only half the way to receiving impact and citations in the future. The rest of the journey is advertising and disseminating the publications by using the proper “Research Tools”. Citations on an article strongly depend on the visibility, rather than the merit, of the article. Researchers have spent plenty of time and effort writing their research for publication. However, most of the researchers stop their work after publication. Dissemination and archiving of an article is an essential phase of the publication life cycle. The step-by-step guide on this webinar series will examine how the effective use of various research tools can help to increase the visibility and impact of researchers’ visibility, and published research, leading to an increase in citations and subsequent improvement in university ranking.
How to Enhance Research Visibility and Impact in Medical Education?Nader Ale Ebrahim
Medical education can help to improve medical practices, teaching methods, and curricula, allowing medical professionals to better serve their patients. Moreover, research in medical education can help to influence policy and policy decisions aimed at providing quality healthcare and improving the quality of life for individuals. However, due to the lack of visibility in medical education research, it is not always easy to make an impact on policy or change. In order to increase the visibility and impact of research in medical education, researchers’ outputs should expose the to the widest possible audience. Publishing a high-quality paper in a scientific journal is only half the way to receiving impact and citations in the future. The rest of the journey is advertising and disseminating the publications by using the proper “Research Tools”. Citations on an article strongly depend on the visibility, rather than the merit of the article. Effective use of “Research Tools”, which will be elaborated on in this webinar, can result in increased visibility and, thus, enhance research visibility and impact in medical education. This webinar is intended to be a quick reference for medical researchers to optimize their research visibility and impact.
