CATCHPHRASE
THE RULES
There are 3 contestants and there is no particular attention paid to their gender.
they would have to identify the familiar phrase represented by a piece of animation
accompanied by background music. The show's mascot, a golden robot called "Mr. Chips",
appears in many of the animations.
Each round you will earn a certain amount of money per catchphrase, the person with the most
money is the winner.
The show has always aired on ITV, the episodes normally last between 45-60 minutes
The show has always aired on ITV, the episodes normally last between 45-60 minutes. ITV is a commercialTV
network which has previously aired some very notable popular gameshows for example “Who wants to be a
millionaire“?” and at the moment is airing shows like “The X Factor” and “Britain's GotTalent”.Therefore ITV
is the ideal channel to host the gameshow as it will be exposed to many people who watch the other
gameshows e.g. through the channels own adverts.
CHANNEL
THE HOST – STEPHEN MULHERN
Stephen Mulhern is best known for presenting
television programmes for ITV. He has and still
is presenting shows like “Big Star’s Little Star”
and “Ant & Dec’s Saturday night takeaway”
these are very well known ITV shows and
therefore makes him perfect to present
Catchphrase, he's known for his humour and
friendliness.
THE SUCCESS
• ITV has confirmed it is reviving gameshow Catchphrase following a successful
pilot, with Britain's Got MoreTalent presenter Stephen Mulhern stepping into Roy
Walker's shoes as host.
• In its original form Catchphrase ran for more than 300 episodes on ITV between
1986 and 2002. Walker was the show's best-known host, presenting it for 13 years
from 1999.
CONTESTANTS
• All you need is to be the minimum age required to take part in the show (18 years) .
• The website suggests that you should be outgoing with a big personality and up for a fun
day out.
• When any celebrity competes in the celebrity version they are competing to give money
to their chosen charity
THE PRIZES
• Each round you maintain more and more money from each answer you get right
THE AUDIENCE
People who may watch the show are people who love guessing games and
any type of competition, as there can be some people playing it who are better
than others. The show is aimed for the older audience as some younger
viewers may not know some of the catchphrases.
BROADCASTING ANDTHE STATION
SCHEDULES
• The show is broadcast on ITV2 at either 11:15 or 1:05 on Saturdays or Sundays
FAMILY FORTUNES
THE RULES
• Two family teams, each with five members, are asked to guess the results of surveys, in which 100 people would be asked open ended questions
(e.g. "we asked 100 people to name something associated with the countryWales" or "we asked 100 people to name a breed of dog")
• Each round begins with a member of each family (in rotation, meaning all players do this at least once) approaching the podium. As the question is
read, the first of the two nominees to hit a buzzer gives an answer. If this is not the most popular answer, the other nominee is asked. The family with
the more popular answer then chooses whether to "play" the question, or "pass" control to the other family.
• The host then passes down the line of the controlling team, asking for an answer from each. After each answer, the board reveals whether this
answer featured. If not, the family is assessed a strike, and the family loses control of the board after accumulating three strikes (also referred as
striking out) in the round. If a family manages to come up with all the survey answers (most commonly six in the early part of the show, reduced in
number after the commercial break) before striking out, they win the amount in pounds of the total number of people who had given the answers. A
strike is marked similar to tenpin bowling with an X on the board, accompanied by a buzzer
It used to be aired on ITV and it was then moved out of peak time and became a daily daytime
show, hosted by Andy Collins, but it only had a short run in this format before being axed.
CHANNEL
THE HOST – ANDY COLLINS
• During the 1990s, Collins presentedGame Over, a show on BSkyB’s short-lived computer and technology
channel .tv. In 1993 he won a Golden Joystick and a date with emcee Monie Love by winning a SNES Cool Spot
challenge on Channel 4's GamesMaster
• In 2000, he co-presented "Lost InTheWoods" as Novice to the survival Guru John "Brummie" Stokes, a 15
episodes show that aired on DiscoveryTravel & Living.
• From September to December 2002, he presented the British daytime version of Family Fortunes, a show
based on the United StatesTV show Family Feud In 2005, he appeared on the chat show Heads Up with
Richard Herring to discuss his life, career and his love of poker
• Andy provided entertainment as the ref on the sell out tour of A Question of Sportin 2010.
• The vast array of work is as a warm-up act for numerous British entertainment variety shows, including
grandstand-seat competition winners on the red carpet at the 2006 BAFTA award ceremony.
• Other warm-up work includesThe Jonathan Ross Show, Alan Carr:Chatty Man, GamesWorld [2] Little Britain,[3]
Grownups,,Ant & Dec's Saturday NightTakeaway, series 2 of AreYou SmarterThan aTenYear Old?
• Collins regularly appears in pantomime.
THE SUCCESS
• The highs and lows of operating a family firm are well documented. On the
one hand the extra sense of purpose, strength of commitment and loyalty
• between family members working together is often greater than that of
everyday employees. Knowing you're building the business to pass onto
future
• generations encourages the longer-term planning mind-set needed for
sustainable growth and success.
CONTESTANTS
• The type of contestants that would go on this type of game show are probably, obviously families, as the name of
the game show is “Family Fortunes” So
• Families will help and join together to try and win a grand prize, they will try and win it together. This was a very
popular game show as it also brought families
• closer together by playing and guessing together, and if they win, they will be able to split the cash prize to buy
their own things or buy things together.
• The show is broad cast on ITV2 at 5pm.
THE PRIZES
• The top cash prize in "Big Money" in the first series (1980) was £1,000. From the second series (1981),
the prize started at £1,000 then rose by £500 weekly if no one won, to a limit of £2,500 (£3,000 from
1982, which it could stay at for more than one week if it still was not won). Once won, it reverted to
£1,000 for the next edition. In the 1987 series, it started at £1,000, and if not won rose by £1,000 per
week to a maximum of £3,000. From the 1988 series, the prize was stabilised at £3,000. After the
abolition of the IBA's prize limits, the top prize rose to £5,000 from 1996. It should be remembered,
though, that the money had to be shared out between five people; by the end of its run even the top
cash prize seemed relatively small compared to those available on other game shows such as Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire?
THE AUDIENCE
The type of people who watch this gameshow are the family audiences, because there is no
swearing and it is a gameshow which encourages you to get involved
BROADCASTING ANDTHE STATION
SCHEDULES
• The show is broadcast on ITV2 at 5pm (days unavailable)
AMERICA’S NEXT
TOP MODEL
THE RULES
• A group of contestants are chosen to live together in theTop Model House and compete to become
America's NextTop Model. Each week, one girl is asked to leave (called 'elimination') because she does
not have the standard and ability to become a top model. The elimination is based on a photoshoot or a
commercial and the reward challenge is different every week. The last few girls travel to another
country (France, Italy, Japan,China,Thailand etc.) to continue the competition. Near the end, they will
do a CoverGirl commercial. Then, the last girls appear in a final runway show against each other. The
winner is then chosen by the group of judges that includesTyra Banks and others.
The show is broadcasted on ITV (Britain) and CW (America). These are ideal channels because
they are known for allowing profanity – therefore unlikely exposed to children – and is aired on
the channel aimed at the target audience.
CHANNEL
HOST –TYRA BANKS
an American television personality, producer, businesswoman,
actress, author, former model and occasional singer. Born in
Inglewood, California, she began her career as a model at age
15, and was the first African American woman to be featured
on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue,
on which she appeared twice. She was aVictoria's Secret Angel
from 1997 to 2005. By the early 2000s, Banks was one of the
top-earning models in the world.
This makes her a perfect host as she herself has much
experience in the fashion industry and as well as empathise
with the contestants, she can help them out in improvement.
THE SUCCESS
• There has been 22 successful cycles in which the audience has been verey committed with
• Models were born from the show, whether they had won or not
• People are always applying to be on the show
In contrast to what I had previously said,
The show's cancellation was confirmed on October 14, 2015 and the series concluded on
December 4, 2015.It was the last show originally from UPN to end its run. In February 2016,
it was announced that the show had been picked up byVH1.Tyra Banks will not be returning
to host the show but will still serve as executive producer, and it is likely the judging panel
will be revamped. It was then officially announced that Rita Ora would be serving as the host
and a judge of the upcoming twenty-third cycle. The show was also on IVT, ITV Is a channel
were there is a lot of adult-basd shows, not really for children.Which is why this is on ITV as
there’s some swearing involved in this shaow. The host isTyra Banks, as she was also a very
popular model, and wanted to give others a chance to model with her two, which is why she
created this show, which lasted 22 seasons.
CONTESTANTS
• People who are interested in becoming a model and feel they can strive to win the
show, it is usually the general public however sometimes celebrities have
competed, it is open to people of any type of status.
THE PRIZES
• The 3 main prizes from the most recent shows consist of
• $100,000
• A contract with a type of brand e.g. the most recent one was GUESS
• A picture of themselves for the front cover of NYLON MAGAZINE
THE AUDIENCE
• The demographic for the audience is anybody interested in models and the drama that
comes along with it. Also there is a lot of cussing, and a few adult scenes shown as they are
staying all together. Therefore it is aimed at people above the age of 12 because it is
censored.
BROADCASTING ANDTHE STATION
SCHEDULES
• The show is broadcasted for English people on ITV and for Americans on the channel CW
at 6pm on both channels.
