Leadership style assessments certainly have a place within the organization. The effectiveness of a leadership style assessment will depend on what type of assessment and what the organizational needs are. Multi-source feedback assessments are supposed to give a 360 degree look at a leader and give the organization a valuable outcome in the evaluation of the leader (MacKie, 2015). Using multi-source feedback assessments can be extremely beneficial as long as the assessment is properly paired with the organizational goals and needs. Assessing a leader from multi perspectives is truly a holistic approach. But, organizations need to recognize that no leadership style assessment is not without its limitations.
Next, the behavior approach is one of four approaches to leadership. Three of which all have weaknesses; traits, skills, and behavior. But the fourth approach to leadership, the situational approach demonstrates the flexibility of a leader (Northouse2016, 2016). In today’s dynamic and complex business environment, flexible leaders bring the most value to an organization. The situational approach allows the leader to apply the other three approaches given the circumstances. As an Army leader I found this approach to be extremely effective while leading in combat and non-combat situations.
Explanation of Usefulness
Of equal importance is the usefulness leadership style assessments and the behavior approach have on an organization. Once an organization has clearly defined the goals and purpose of conducting an assessment, and then subsequently the correct assessment is used, the results will certainly help the organization. In this case, using an assessment to evaluate the benefits of a behavior approach to leadership will allow the organization to determine what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, and how fast it needs to be done (Saxena, 2014). Additionally, the behavior approach (if the relationship behavior is used), can give subordinates the motivation needed to achieve the desired outcome through a better understanding of themselves.
Explanation of Impact
The impact of leadership assessments on an individual can be positive or negative. Again, this directly correlates to the goals and expectations of the organization when the assessment is implemented. For the individual, it could potentially identify strengths and weaknesses. Thus, giving the individual the opportunity to grow and learn from the assessment. Simultaneously, the organization discovers how these strengths and weaknesses fit into the organization’s goals. Once they have identified where and how an individual nest into the organization, a holistic approach to achieving those goals can be developed (Northouse2016, 2016). Participant observation is one type of data collection method typically done in the qualitative research paradigm. It is a widely used methodology in many disciplines, particularly cultural anthropology, less so in sociology, communication studies, human geography and social psychology. Its aim is to gain a close and intimate familiarity with a given group of individuals (such as a religious, occupational, sub cultural group, or a particular community) and their practices through an intensive involvement with people in their cultural environment, usually over an extended period of time. The method originated in the field research of social anthropologists, especially Bronisław Malinowski in Britain, the students of Franz Boas in the United States, and in the later urban research of the Chicago School of sociology.

Participant observation was used extensively by Frank Hamilton Cushing in his study of the Zuni Indians in the later part of the nineteenth century, followed by the studies of non-Western societies by people such as Bronisław Malinowski,[1]E.E. Evans-Pritchard,[2] and Margaret Mead[3] in the first half of the twentieth century. It emerged as the principal approach to ethnographicresearch by anthropologists and relied on the cultivation of personal relationships with local informants as a way of learning about a culture, involving both observing and participating in the social life of a group. Formulating the Problem Statement and the Purpose Statement
Over the past decade, there have been several changes in drug addiction treatment that has shown results that show reduced associated health and social costs by more than the cost of the treatments. It has been found that treatments cost much less that the alternatives, such as incarcerating people with addictions. There are many savings related to healthcare, which includes, total savings that can exceed costs with a ratio of 12 to 1. Major savings to the individual and to society also stems from fewer interpersonal conflicts; greater workplace productivity; and fewer drug-related accidents, including overdoses and deaths (Woody, M.D., 2018).
Problem Statement
A common misperception is detoxification cures the addiction, yet addiction is a chronic disorder requiring long term multimodal treatment (Korsmeyer et al., 2009. Long-term treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders might reduce recidivism rates and lessen costs for rehabilitation. Goldstein, A. (1997). examined the benefits of long-term substance abuse and posited the benefits. Goldstein further suggested not treating addiction appropriately or at all contributes to the high costs associated with substance use in the United States.
Insurance companies are reluctant to support long term substance abuse treatment; however, Weisner, Ray, Mertens, Satre and Moore (2003) noted patients receiving a minimum of six months substance treatment abstained from drug and alcohol use at least five years after treatment yet abusers of alcohol were less likely to remain sober for lengthy periods of time after treatment (Weisner et al., 2003).
According to the National Drug Institute (2012), every dollar invested in substance abuse treatment yields a return of $5.50 in reduced drug-related crime, costs associated with criminal justice, and theft. Healthcare savings can exceed costs by a 12 to 1 ratio. Therefore, drug addiction treatment reduces costs associated with primary care and is less costly than incarceration. Addressing addiction also contributes to the more positive aspects of life, such as increase in work productivity, and fewer incidents related to drug use, fewer overdoses and deaths.

The purpose of this correlational study is to see if a relationship exists among periods of sobriety and four levels of substance abuse treatment. The research will examine substance abuse treatment throughout various levels of care: higher levels (detox, Inpatient (IP), and Residential (RTC) and lower levels (partial hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and routine Outpatient (OP). Using a mixed quantitative and qualitative survey research design, this paper examines the trends in a written open ended survey allowing the respondents to convey their unique perspective. This will allow for a high quality of information from OT practitioners serving in different regions with varied experience. The following subquestions were asked: What are the biggest obstacles facing Occupational Therapy in the school system? Which skills are underutilized in the school system by OT practitioners? Do you feel the role of OT is understood by your co workers? Are you satisfied with your job? The answers to these sub questions are analyzed and examined in this paper.
Research Context and Participants
The mixed quantitative and qualitative surveys were completed online at random through two closed social media groups: School based Occupational Physical Therapists and Pediatric Occupational Therapists. The following criteria had to be met, 1. Participant needed to be an OT or OTA, 2. Participant needed to be practicing in a school based setting. All of the participants questions were self recorded on the online survey. Participants were free to add any additional comments to the survey.

Leadership style assessments certainly have a place within the organization. The effectiveness of a leadership style assessment will depend on what type of assessment and what the organizational needs are. Multi-source feedback assessments are supposed to give a 360 degree look at a leader and give the organization a valuable outcome in the evaluation of the leader (MacKie, 2015). Using multi-source feedback assessments can be extremely beneficial as long as the assessment is properly paired with the organizational goals and needs. Assessing a leader from multi perspectives is truly a holistic approach. But, organizations need to recognize that no leadership style assessment is not without its limitations.
Next, the behavior approach is one of four approaches to leadership. Three of which all have weaknesses; traits, skills, and behavior. But the fourth approach to leadership, the situational approach demonstrates the flexibility of a leader (Northouse2016, 2016). In today’s dynamic and complex business environment, flexible leaders bring the most value to an organization. The situational approach allows the leader to apply the other three approaches given the circumstances. As an Army leader I found this approach to be extremely effective while leading in combat and non-combat situations.
Explanation of Usefulness
Of equal importance is the usefulness leadership style assessments and the behavior approach have on an organization. Once an organization has clearly defined the goals and purpose of conducting an assessment, and then subsequently the correct assessment is used, the results will certainly help the organization. In this case, using an assessment to evaluate the benefits of a behavior approach to leadership will allow the organization to determine what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, and how fast it needs to be done (Saxena, 2014). Additionally, the behavior approach (if the relationship behavior is used), can give subordinates the motivation needed to achieve the desired outcome through a better understanding of themselves.
Explanation of Impact
The impact of leadership assessments on an individual can be positive or negative. Again, this directly correlates to the goals and expectations of the organization when the assessment is implemented. For the individual, it could potentially identify strengths and weaknesses. Thus, giving the individual the opportunity to grow and learn from the assessment. Simultaneously, the organization discovers how these strengths and weaknesses fit into the organization’s goals. Once they have identified where and how an individual nest into the organization, a holistic approach to achieving those goals can be developed (Northouse2016, 2016). the data was to observe cultural taxonomies, personality effects on organizational performance

While making observations, Schwartz Cultural Taxonomy was noticed. This taxonomy
includes Embeddedness, Autonomy, Mastery, Harmony, Hierarchy, and Egalitarianism (Hanel
PHP). An embedded culture wishes to stick to its existing policies and Autonomy is not given to
the employees. Group harmony was observed rather than autonomy in the working patterns.
This is so because employees are directly reporting to the CEO. A clear Hierarchal system is
being used by rather than Egalitarian system in which everyone has the power to perform
independence and innovation. In the Hierarchal system, the proper system is being followed in
which every successive person is reporting to the CEO. A collectivist culture is seen with a
power distant approach in which everyone is accepting the directions with low uncertainty
avoidance. While working in the hierarchal and group dynamic principals, people in the
organization are performing for the betterment of the organization and the group leader. The

Participant observation is one type of data collection method typically done in the qualitative research paradigm. It is a widely used methodology in many disciplines, particularly cultural anthropology, less so in sociology, communication studies, human geography and social psychology. Its aim is to gain a close and intimate familiarity with a given group of individuals (such as a religious, occupational, sub cultural group, or a particular community) and their practices through an intensive involvement with people in their cultural environment, usually over an extended period of time. The method originated in the field research of social anthropologists, especially Bronisław Malinowski in Britain, the students of Franz Boas in the United States, and in the later urban research of the Chicago School of sociology.

Participant observation was used extensively by Frank Hamilton Cushing in his study of the Zuni Indians in the later part of the nineteenth century, followed by the studies of non-Western societies by people such as Bronisław Malinowski,[1]E.E. Evans-Pritchard,[2] and Margaret Mead[3] in the first half of the twentieth century. It emerged as the principal approach to ethnographicresearch by anthropologists and relied on the cultivation of personal relationships with local informants as a way of learning about a culture, involving both observing and participating in the social life of a group. Formulating the Problem Statement and the Purpose Statement
Over the past decade, there have been several changes in drug addiction treatment that has shown results that show reduced associated health and social costs by more than the cost of the treatments. It has been found that treatments cost much less that the alternatives, such as incarcerating people with addictions. There are many savings related to healthcare, which includes, total savings that can exceed costs with a ratio of 12 to 1. Major savings to the individual and to society also stems from fewer interpersonal conflicts; greater workplace productivity; and fewer drug-related accidents, including overdoses and deaths (Woody, M.D., 2018).
Problem Statement
A common misperception is detoxification cures the addiction, yet addiction is a chronic disorder requiring long term multimodal treatment (Korsmeyer et al., 2009. Long-term treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders might reduce recidivism rates and lessen costs for rehabilitation. Goldstein, A. (1997). examined the benefits of long-term substance abuse and posited the benefits. Goldstein further suggested not treating addiction appropriately or at all contributes to the high costs associated with substance use in the United States.
Insurance companies are reluctant to support long term substance abuse treatment; however, Weisner, Ray, Mertens, Satre and Moore (2003) noted patients receiving a minimum of six months substance treatment abstained from drug and alcohol use at least five years after treatment yet abusers of alcohol were less likely to remain sober for lengthy periods of time after treatment (Weisner et al., 2003).
According to the National Drug Institute (2012), every dollar invested in substance abuse treatment yields a return of $5.50 in reduced drug-related crime, costs associated with criminal justice, and theft. Healthcare savings can exceed costs by a 12 to 1 ratio. Therefore, drug addiction treatment reduces costs associated with primary care and is less costly than incarceration. Addressing addiction also contributes to the more positive aspects of life, such as increase in work productivity, and fewer incidents related to drug use, fewer overdoses and deaths.

The purpose of this correlational study is to see if a relationship exists among periods of sobriety and four levels of substance abuse treatment. The research will examine substance abuse treatment throughout various levels of care: higher levels (detox, Inpatient (IP), and Residential (RTC) and lower levels (partial hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and routine Outpatient (OP). Current trends in substance abuse treatment provides evidence that length of treatment is inadequate contributing to more frequent relapses among substance abusers. Abstract:
Research summary We review advances in research methodology used in global strategy research and provide suggestions on how researchers can improve their analyses and arguments. Methodological advances in the extraction of information, such as computer-aided text analysis, and in the analysis of datasets, such as differences-in-differences and propensity score matching, have helped deal with challenges (e.g., endogeneity and causality) that bedeviled earlier studies and resulted in conflicting findings. These methodological advances need to be considered as tools that complement theoretical arguments and well-explained logics and mechanisms so that researchers can provide better and more relevant recommendations to managers designing the global strategies of their organizations. Managerial summary We review advances in research methodology used in global strategy research and provide suggestions for improving researchers' analyses and arguments. Methodological advances in the extraction of information and in the analysis of datasets have helped researchers deal with challenges that bedeviled earlier studies and resulted in conflicting findings. These advances have provided researchers with the ability to obtain valid, unbiased results with clear and relevant managerial implications. Such methodological advances need to be considered as tools that complement theoretical arguments and well-explained logics and mechanisms so that researchers can provide better and more relevant recommendations to managers designing the global strategies of their organizations. In this week’s discussion about strategic planning, we discussed more corporate strategy. We learned that there are three scopes of corporate strategy which include vertical integration, diversification as well as geographic scope. We also learned the role of the company leaders in the strategic planning of the company. The discussion also touched on concepts such as tape, innovation integration global strategy and international strategy among many other concepts (Rothaermel, 2019). The main aim of these concepts is to help the company strategically plan for activities that will help the company grow. The concepts also help to align the company strategically with other companies. In this journal, I will discuss some of these concepts and how they apply to the company’s strategic planning.
Caterpillars Inc. short versus long term goals.
Caterpillars Inc. has created both short term and long-term goals to help grow the company. The short-term goals of the company are mainly key improvements in various areas are that enable the company to achieve its long-term goals. These short-term goals include improvements in renewable energy areas, water consumption intensity, reducing the number of recordable injuries, improving sales and revenues, and reducing the GHG emissions intensity in the next five years (Caterpillar Inc., 2019). The company also has long term goals that encompass the short term goals and this includes, reducing the energy intensity by 50 percent, reducing the emissions of the company by 50 percent, reducing the water consumption in the company by 50 percent and reducing the injury recorded rate in the company by 60 percent (Caterpillar Inc., 2019). All of these should be achieved in 5 years. The short term goals are the necessary steps that the company must take to achieve its long term goals. The main purpose of achieving the goals is to reduce the costs of operations, offer better products and reduce pollution to the environment.
Mergers and acquisitions contributed to the company’s performance.
The company has acquired three companies through mergers and acquisitions in the last 5 years. Two of the three companies acquired by caterpillar are from the private sector and have divested a total of 8 assets. These mergers and acquisitions have enabled caterpillar companies to increase their aggressiveness in the market place increasing its dominance in the global industrial market (Merger. 2019). It has helped the companies increase their value, improve their overall performance and has reached an increased growth in the regional and global market share and its products in the market. It has established a strategic market realignment in the company’s network helping it achieve more market shares and thrive well in the last 5 years.

Running Head: RESEARCH PROPOSAL 1 Research Proposal 4 Research Proposal Latissa Butler American Public University: IRLS503 International Organizations Dr. Borislava Manojlovic March 13, 2020 1. IO Selection and Research Question There are different IOs all over the world. Each IO has different roles which they are supposed to play all over the world, but each organization has its great achievements and also failures. One of the international organizations which I opted to choose is the International Labor Organization. This is one of the United Nation's Agencies that are responsible to promote social justice and appropriate work through setting international labor standards. It is also responsible for the creation of coordinated policies and the publication of different works on social and labor issues. This organization has different challenges which it has been facing for the prior years but one of the main problems is that it has been accused of being ungrateful and out of touch, undesirable regulations and finally failing to ensure that its principles and guidelines are taken literally by official member states. Then in terms of research question regarding this
- 3. problem is that, “why do you think that international labor organization is not able to ensure that its principles and guidelines are taken literally by the official member states?” (Salkind, 2012). 2. Dependent Variable Identification There are different variables one of the variables is the dependent variable which is usually the variable that is being examined and it depends on the independent variable. Then according to my research question, the dependent variable is the “seriousness of international labor organization principles and guidelines” this is because the seriousness principle and guidelines are the ones that are being examined, thus depending on something else therefore becoming the dependent variable. Since there are different levels and criteria of measuring dependent variables, then the best criteria to measure my dependent variable is via categorical criteria which is the nominal variable and a dichotomous because it needs more than one response. 3. Independent variable On the other side, there is the independent variable that is self- governed and they can be changed for the experimenter to test the dependent variable. According to the research question, the first independent variable is the members of the states. This is because they are the ones to determine whether to take the principles and guidelines seriously or not. The next independent variable is the international labor organization leadership. This is because it does not depend on anything else and also it can be changed by the experimenter and finally it is the one to determine how seriously the principles and guidelines will be taken by the members of states (Walliman, 2010). 4. Hypothesis Next, there is the hypothesis about both the variables regarding the research question. This is a way of speculating about the future of the situation in the international labor organization. I hypothesize that the strictness of the leadership of the international labor organization will influence the seriousness
- 4. of the members of the states towards the organizational principles and guidelines. This is because if the leadership fails to be strictly enough about its principles and guidelines then in future they shall not be taken seriously by the official members of states. If the other side of the leadership decides to be stricter, then there is a high possibility of the organizational principles and guidelines to be taken more serious. The next issue is that the attitude of the members of the state also determines how they take the issues. This is because the members of the public have a positive attitude towards the labor organization and its policies. They shall be able to take adhere to the seriously unlike when they have a negative attitude toward the organization. Finally, there is the nature of policies; this can determine how the principles and guidelines will be received. For example, if there are consequences if a member fails to take them seriously then the members can take the principle and guidelines seriously because they can be afraid of the consequences (Anne Collins, 2014). 5. Research Method and Proposed Data Sources There are different research methods which are used to test different hypothesis. According to the hypothesis above, I opt to use the inferential statistical method to test these hypotheses to answer the research question. This method of the testing hypothesis is used to determine if the findings from the sample can generalize and if it can be applied. It is also used to give a trustful conclusion of the study. Then finally there are different ways of investigating the hypothesis such as quantitative and qualitative data methods. To the above hypothesis, I opt to use a qualitative research method to investigate it. This is because this kind of method is highly associated with emotions, words and feeling thus making it best for me since the research question need the qualities of this method for it to be answered, tested and investigated. This method also is focused on enabling a greater level of a high grasping of the research question. Then in terms of analysis of the data I prefer to use an interview to collect the data. This is because I believe through this I can get
- 5. first-hand information and then I use the case study to analyze the data. This is because this method can generalize the data, it also provides mush detailed information compared to other methods and finally it provides an insight for further research (McAneney, 2018).
