This research uses a quasi-experimental design to manipulate an independent variable and explore existing fact-checking software through a descriptive and comparative analysis. The explorative approach examines 15 software programs to understand their technical nature, functional areas, problem-solving abilities, and limitations. The analysis identifies functional problems and a new approach is developed and manipulated.
