This document discusses representations of social groups in media. It describes killers as typically represented as underclass members who are underrepresented, underpaid, and middle-aged men with less authority who are anti-establishment. Detectives, meanwhile, are usually depicted as coming from upper or middle class backgrounds, having higher authority as reflected in their costumes, environment, body language, and manner of walking which all serve to represent their status and power.
