This document is a graduation project report submitted by Eduardo Martins Barros de Albuquerque Tenório to the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a degree in Computer Engineering. The report describes implementations of text-independent speaker identification and verification systems using Gaussian mixture models (GMMs). Experiments are conducted on the MIT Mobile Device Speaker Verification Corpus database to evaluate identification and verification performance rates for different GMM configurations including single speaker GMMs, adapted GMMs, and a proposed fractional GMM approach. Detection error tradeoff curves are also presented to analyze verification performance.
