Major (Retired) Steve Nagy will provide an overview of the First World War, including the key players and events leading up to the war as well as important monuments commemorating the conflict. He will discuss the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and the series of diplomatic tensions and military mobilizations between European powers from July-August 1914 that sparked the war. Major Nagy will also highlight several monuments in Flanders Fields, Ypres, and at Vimy Ridge that honor those who fought in the war.
