At Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation (PCCI), we realize that there is a disconnect between what we spend on what really keeps people healthy ( healthy behaviors and environment) and what we spend on medical care. This presentation shows how we are addressing this through smart use of data, AI and tools that connect individuals to social services. We use multi-pronged approach towards this 1) Capture social determinants of health (SDoH) as proxies to quantify the surroundings where people spend most of their time and enhancing our clinical predictive models to better risk stratify our patients. 2) Using ethical AI principles to recommend and integrate interventions right at the point of care to remove biases, compensate for model drifts and build trust with clinicians and patients. PCCI is thus reimagining “care” in healthcare – focusing on factors which matter most in well-being of individuals, through Ethical AI.

PARKLAND CENTER OF CLINICAL INNOVATION
Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation(PCCI) is a non-profit research and innovation organization
affiliated with Parkland Health and Hospital System. We use the latest AI, machine learning and deep
learning network methods to build predictive and prescriptive analytics to risk stratify individuals based
on their needs and embed the algorithms into updated workflows/programs at the point of care to align
and connect services and engage individuals.
BIO
• A resourceful and entrepreneurial technologist always trying to strike a balance between
foresight and a 'sense of urgency' to develop usable solutions solving core problems
• Originally from India, did Masters in Computer Engineering (MS) from University of Southern
California (USC) after BS from Govt. College of Engineering, Pune
• Built a decade long career in Silicon valley and recently held positions of Strategy Advisor to a
Cognitive Insights / AI startup and a Senior Manager at Intel delivering software solutions for
Autonomous Cars, Digital Surveillance and Smart Cities
• At PCCI, leading a multi-disciplinary team of software engineers, data scientists, analysts,
program managers and social workers under clinicians’ advisement to build first-of-their-kinds
cloud hosted interoperable data platforms
• Selected as an honoree for Dallas Business Journal’s 2019 Women in Technology Awards
