comes from the FRENCH and was
borrowed into English around the
17th century, a dimunitive of “ballo”
(dance). Ballet ultimately traces back
to Italian “ballare”, meaning to dance.

for its rigorous
technique, flowing and
precise movements, lithe
aesthetics, and ethereal
qualities.
4. Classical ballet emphasizes fluid,
graceful movements and long lines,
along with strict adherence to correct
form – alignment/posture, technique,
carriage of arms (port de bras) and
turn-out of the legs. Other important
aspects include foot pointing, lines
and angles (epaulment)
