The document discusses the normal flora, or indigenous microbiota, that colonize the human body. It focuses on the oral cavity. The mouth provides nutrients and secretions, making it favorable for colonization by many bacteria species, including streptococci, lactobacilli, staphylococci, and mostly anaerobes such as bacteroides. The composition of the normal flora changes with age as the teeth and gingival crevice develop. While most normal flora benefit the host, some can cause opportunistic infections when host defenses are weakened. Bacteria exhibit tissue specificity through nutrient preferences and specific adhesins that bind host receptors.

Wash/Dry a Vehicle
Provided by:
Reflective Image of
North Carolina LLC

4. Items Needed
● Water Source (If you have hard water, please wash in a cool shaded area and dry carefully to prevent water
spots from forming). Consider a Water Deionizer if necessary.
● Water hose with spray nozzle (Pressure Washer may be used cautiously if desired)
● (3) Five Gallon Buckets
● (2) Grit Guards
● Car Wash Concentrate (Make sure you use a Car Wash Concentrate that will not cause harm to automotive
paint finishes. Avoid using Dawn and other household soaps)
● Sheepskin or Microfiber Wash Mitt
● Soft Detailing Brush (For Emblems and other hard to reach crevices)
● E-Z Detailing Wheel Brush (For the inner barrels of the wheel)
● Wheel Cleaner (Avoid using acidic based products that can ruin or stain the wheel’s finish)
● Degreaser (Recommend Meguiar’s All Purpose Cleaner)
● Portable Electric or Battery Powered Leaf Blower
● (10) Clean Microfiber Towels
● Quick Detailer Spray (Recommend Meguiar’s Final Inspection)
● Tire Dressing
● Tire Dressing Applicator Sponge
● Glass Cleaner (Do not use Windex. Make sure product is ammonia free...especially if you have tinted windows)
● (2) Glass Polishing Towels
5. Step 1: Preparing to Wash the
Vehicle
The first step to complete is preparing the wash area and getting all of the supplies and materials ready to use. Allow
the vehicle to cool off for at least 1 hour prior to washing. Always wash the vehicle in a cool/shaded place to prevent
water spotting.
Now that the vehicle is in a cool/shaded place, precede by obtaining (2) five gallon buckets and (2) Grit Guards.
Depending on the directions of the Car Wash Concentrate you use, insert the recommended amount into one of the five
gallon buckets. Fill the rest of the bucket up with water. The bucket ideally should be 75-80% full. This allows the Grit
Guard to be placed into the bottom of the bucket and there still be plenty of water to clean the mitt while washing.
Next, fill the second five gallon bucket with only water (remember 75-80% full). Insert the second Grit Guard into the
bottom of the bucket. Now there should be two buckets with Grit Guards prepared and ready to use. 1 wash bucket,
and 1 rinse bucket. It’s very important to remember which one is which.
The last bucket is used for cleaning wheels, tires, and the fender well area. Fill the third bucket up with water and the
Car Wash Concentrate of your choice (an optional third Grit Guard can be used if desired). Insert the E-Z Detailing
Brush into the bucket to allow initial soaking along with 2 clean microfibers. This bucket also should be filled 75-80%.
6. Step 1: Preparing to Wash the
Vehicle cont….
Lastly, make sure that all of the products needed during the wash process are readily available. It’s also a great idea to
already have the materials setup for drying the vehicle (Leaf Blower, 2-4 Microfiber Towels, Quick Detailer Spray, etc).
Recap: All of the materials should be in place and the vehicle should be in a cool shaded area if possible. If the vehicle
was in the sun for a long period of time allow the paint to cool off, especially if it’s a darker colored vehicle.
(3) five gallon buckets should be filled 75-80%:
● 1 wash bucket with Grit Guard and a Sheepskin or Microfiber Mitt with the Car Concentrate of your choice
● 1 rinse bucket with Grit Guard and only water
● 1 bucket dedicated to the wheels/tires/fender wells with the E-Z Detailing Brush and 2 Microfiber Towels. A third
Grit Guard can be used for the wheels/tires/and fender wells if desired.
7. Step 2: Cleaning the Wheels
Cleaning the wheels before focusing on the paint of the vehicle is recommended first for many different reasons.
Saving the wheels until last can sometime cause water spots due to the car drying while the wheels are being cleaned.
It’s a great idea to get this part completed first so that the third bucket can be put away. It sometimes can be easy with
3 buckets to forget which bucket has which product and what the appropriate use is.
Obtain the third bucket designated for the wheels/tires/fender wells. Start by rinsing the wheel off then applying the
Wheel Cleaner of your choice per the recommended amount. Allow to soak and the product to penetrate the
dirt/grime/brake dust. Now take the E-Z Detail Brush and clean the inside barrels of the wheel. The Microfiber can be
used for the face of the wheels and the lug nut area. While cleaning the wheels make sure to pay attention to the
fender well area in case it needs a light wipedown or rinse. If so the E-Z Detail Brush can be used along with one of the
Microfibers. A pressure washer can also be used for extremely dirty fender wells. Never clean the fender well area
and the wheel with the same Microfiber.
Now that the wheel has been cleaned and wiped down proceed to rinse the wheel and check to see if another wash is
needed. After cleaning the wheel with the E-Z Detail Brush and the Microfiber towel it’s good practice to spray these
items off before putting them back into the bucket. Every time!! This allows a bulk of the dirt and grim to be sprayed
off. The two bucket method can also be used for the washing and cleaning of wheels and tires. Continue by spraying
off the wheel and inspecting the work. The Wheel Cleaner can be re applied if necessary. Continue this process until
all of the wheels are clean and sparkling. Make sure all the wheels are clean before moving onto the rest of the
vehicle.
8. Step 3: Cleaning the Tires
The wheels are clean and now it’s time to address the tires. Meguiar’s All Purpose Cleaner works great on tires.
Simply spray the product on the tire and allow to penetrate and soak. If the tire is extremely dirty it will turn a brownish
color once the APC is used. The APC is great because it also can remove previous applied Tire Dressings allowing a
fresh start for the new Tire Dressing to be applied.
Scrub the tires with a brush or old Microfiber to agitate the APC. Old Tire Dressings will tend to gum up and can be
visible near the letters or specifications of the tire. Try to scrub and remove all old Dressings. A Pressure Washer
works great on tires just be careful not to use too much pressure.
Normally the tires can be cleaned pretty quickly but sometimes can take up to 1 hour especially if the tires are
extremely dirty. Repeat these steps until the desired cleanliness is achieved.
9. Step 4: Rinsing the Vehicle
Now that the wheels are cleaned along with the tires and fender wells, it’s time to start rinsing the vehicle down getting
it ready to wash. While rinsing the vehicle down look for any defects, dings, dents, etc. that should be notated. Spend
a good 3-5 minutes just rinsing the vehicle down.
If desired, a Foam Cannon Lance can be used to provide a Pre Wash Soak and/or more lubrication for the actual wash.
Remember, the only way swirls and scratches get into the paint is by washing and drying the vehicle. Rinsing the
vehicle off is not only removing dust and dirt but also bigger particles that may be stuck to the paint finish. Example of
this would be bird droppings, leaves or pine needles, pollen, and other contaminants. It’s important to get rid of these
bigger items so they will not adhere to the Wash Mitt.
Continue rinsing the vehicle down paying special attention to the front bumper and the lower portions of the vehicle as
they tend to be the dirtiest.
10. Step 5: Washing the Vehicle
The vehicle has been rinsed thoroughly. Now it’s time to start washing the painted surfaces. Grab the wash bucket
with the Car Wash Concentrate and Grit Guard along with the rinse bucket with it’s Grit Guard.
Take the Wash Mitt and make sure it’s nice and sudsy. Always inspect the Wash Mitt before every wash for particles
and debris that have been caught in the Mitt. Remove if necessary. Now with the sudsy Microfiber Mitt, start at the top
portion of the vehicle and with very light pressure go back and forth wiping away any of the contaminants. Do not use
any type of circular motions and do not use a lot of pressure. If there is a difficult particle that will not come off take
note of it to address after the wash. Sometimes additional tools or products may be needed to remove stubborn
particles.
Start at the top of the vehicle, then move to the hood, then to the trunk or decklid. Remember to dip the Wash Mitt into
the rinse bucket after every pass. Follow the body lines of the vehicle. The more times you dip the Wash Mitt into the
bucket gliding it firmly over the Grit Guard the better. The Grit Guard is used to remove any particles from the Wash
Mitt and keeps it at the bottom of the bucket. Continue washing the car until every section is clean and free from
contaminants. Rinse the vehicle after every section. Do not allow the soap to completely dry on the vehicle. The
average time it should take to complete the vehicle is 30-60 minutes depending on the vehicle size and condition.
Sometimes more time is needed especially if it’s a larger, dirtier vehicle.
11. Step 6: Drying the Vehicle
The vehicle has been washed thoroughly along with the wheels/tires/fender wells. It’s important to move on and begin
to dry the vehicle quickly to prevent water spotting on painted surfaces and windows.
Take the Electric or Battery Powered Leaf Blower and start drying the vehicle. Start by blowing the flat surfaces off first
(Hood, Roof, Decklid). Next move onto drying the windows and glass. This will ensure that the water has been
removed from areas that typically have water spotting problems. While drying these areas be very careful not to drop
the Leaf Blower or hit the vehicle. Continue drying the rest of the vehicle with the Leaf Blower.
A vehicle that is properly waxed and maintained should take 10-20 minutes to completely dry. If the vehicle has not
been cared for and not waxed properly you may start to notice water spots forming. If that’s the case precede to wipe
that area down with a Quick Detailer Spray and a Clean Microfiber Towel. Use very light pressure and make sure you
move the Microfiber Towel along with the body lines of the vehicle. NO CIRCULAR MOTIONS!!!!
The Leaf Blower can also be used to dry the wheels and tires. Overall, the Leaf Blower is a great tool for getting water
out of those hard to reach areas and crevices. Take extra time to ensure all of the water has been completely
removed. If there are still small water spots left over the removal of these will be addressed in the next step.
12. Step 7: Wiping the Vehicle Down
The vehicle has been washed and dried thoroughly so now it’s time to make sure the vehicle get’s a complete wipe
down with a Quick Detailer Spray. Meguiar’s Final Inspection is a great product that does not streak but can safely
remove water spots and other blemishes from painted surfaces, glass, and chrome.
Obtain 2-4 Microfiber Towels. Mist the product onto the towel and lightly wipe the surface using back and forth
motions. Pay close attention that the Microfiber Towel is not scratching the paint. Always check before using a
Microfiber Towel that the tag has been removed!
Continue wiping the car down until there are no spots or blemishes. It’s good practice to use 2-4 towels during this
process. Not just 1 Microfiber! Once the car has been wiped down, open the doors to the vehicle and make sure to
wipe down the door jams. This step should always be last as grease, dirt, and other particles normally collect in these
hard to reach areas. Never use the same Microfiber Towel to wipe down the door jams and then any painted exterior
surface.
13. Step 8: Final Details
Dressing Tires: Tire Dressing of choice, Tire Dressing Applicator Sponge
Apply the recommended amount of Tire Dressing onto the Tire Dressing Applicator Sponge and spread evenly
throughout the whole tire. Make sure to get the tire spot closest to the ground as this is a hard to reach area. You can
move the vehicle forward to make sure it’s applied evenly. For a matte finish take a Microfiber towel and wipe the tires
down after applying the Tire Dressing. Allow the tire to dry completely before driving.
Windows: Glass Cleaner, 1 Microfiber, 1 Glass Polishing Towel
Spray the glass cleaner onto the Microfiber and wipe in a horizontal pattern on the inside of the windows/glass. Wipe in
a vertical motion on the exterior or outside windows/glass. This will allow you to see which side spots or streaks are on.
Never spray the Glass Cleaner directly on the window as it can overspray onto other interior parts. Once the windows
have been wiped down with the Glass Cleaner and Microfiber Towel follow-up with the Glass Polishing Towel. No
product should be applied to the Glass Polishing Towel. It’s simply used to get rid of smears, smudges, and streaking
from the first step.
Do not clean windows in direct sunlight. Halogen or LED lighting can be used to really see blemishes or streaking.
Always clean the windows last!
14. Final Thoughts
If the Wash Mitt or a Microfiber Towel is ever dropped do not use it. Use another one if possible. Also make sure to
take proper care of the Wash Mitt and Microfiber Towels. They should never be washed with regular laundry detergent.
No fabric softeners. No heat for drying. Microfiber Towels should air dry or if put in a dryer set to the Delicate
Setting/No Heat.
NEVER USE CIRCULAR MOTIONS! More pressure is never the best idea on painted surfaces. It has great potential
to cause more harm than good. Make sure the Grit Guards are used and always a part of the Washing Process. If the
vehicle is sitting outside for just a few hours it’s never a good idea to give it a wipe down. It’s better to wash it.
Pay special attention to problem areas of the vehicle or if more wax is needed in certain spots. These things can be
taken care after the wash. Always inspect what you are putting on painted surfaces.
TAKE THE TIME TO DO A GOOD JOB!!!!! The best results will not be obtained in a small amount of time. DO NOT
RUSH. To maintain and preserve the beauty of a vehicle is a process. Not a quick job. The results will show if the
proper methods and time are allowed.

19. Items Needed
● Water Source (If you have hard water, please wash in a cool shaded area and dry carefully to prevent water
spots from forming). Consider a Water Deionizer if necessary.
● Water hose with spray nozzle (Pressure Washer may be used cautiously if desired)
● (3) Five Gallon Buckets
● (2) Grit Guards
● Car Wash Concentrate (Make sure you use a Car Wash Concentrate that will not cause harm to automotive
paint finishes. Avoid using Dawn and other household soaps)
● Sheepskin or Microfiber Wash Mitt
● Soft Detailing Brush (For Emblems and other hard to reach crevices)
● E-Z Detailing Wheel Brush (For the inner barrels of the wheel)
● Wheel Cleaner (Avoid using acidic based products that can ruin or stain the wheel’s finish)
● Degreaser (Recommend Meguiar’s All Purpose Cleaner)
● Portable Electric or Battery Powered Leaf Blower
● (10) Clean Microfiber Towels
● Quick Detailer Spray (Recommend Meguiar’s Final Inspection)
● Tire Dressing
● Tire Dressing Applicator Sponge
● Glass Cleaner (Do not use Windex. Make sure product is pneumonia free...especially if you have tinted
windows)
● (2) Glass Polishing Towels
Make sure all the wheels are clean before moving onto the rest of the
vehicle.
The more times you dip the Wash Mitt into the

average time it should take to complete the vehicle is 30-60 minutes depending on the vehicle size and condition.
Sometimes more time is needed especially if it’s a larger, dirtier vehicle.

Never use the same Microfiber Towel to wipe down the door jams and then any painted exterior
surface.
