This course helped students develop skills needed to be successful scientists. It focused on analyzing scientific articles and writing reflections, learning proper citation and bibliography format, and creating a review paper synthesizing information from multiple sources. Students practiced summarizing articles in their own words, learned to cite sources to avoid plagiarism, and developed their writing and review skills through assignments analyzing papers and creating a final review paper on a topic of their choice.

1. A scientist, by definition, is one engaging in a systematic activity to
acquire knowledge. To be a successful scientist you need to be
multifaceted. This course allowed us to develop and polish the skills a
scientist must have to be succesful and trustworthy. Some of the
skills this course focused on were: citation and biblography, analizing
articles and do reflections about them, improve my writing skills and
finaly making a review paper. The top purposes of this course will be
explained deeply in the following paragraphs.
As a scientist is important that you are able to read articles and
analize it. Articles are very important to scientist. They may provide
the scientist with new information, accurate results, new experiments,
etc. This course helps us analize articles and write reflections about
them. The final purpose of these writing reflections about articles is
that we can express in your own words whats important about that
article and improving our writing skills.
Scientist needs to be able to cite while doing investigations. If you are
writing a article or a review paper and you are obtaining your
information from another article but you put the exact same words of
the authors article without citing,that is consider plagiarism. As a
scientist if you plagiarize an article, this may affect your reputation
and your credibility. This course teached us the correct way to cite in
the CSE format, which is the format the scientist use. Also showed us
how to how to make a biblography. Citing and biblography are very
important when you are writing a review paper because if you do not

2. do it properly, although it is not your purpose, it can be considered
plagiarism.
This course also teached us how to do a review paper. Basicaly, the
combination of all the other skills that the course teached us, allowed
us to do a review paper about five primary articles. A review paper
serves to summarize several articles about the same topic and design
a new experiment or hypothesis based on the information obtained.
My review paper was about artificial heart, their history,
implementations and their different types.
Scientist needs to adquire certain skills to be succesful. This course
gave us a brief example of what it akes to be a scientist. Also provide
us with necessary skills such as: analizing articles, citing and making
a review paper. As a scientist you need to avood plagiarism by citing
correctly.
