TO WHOMIT MAYCONCERN
Ms Marketa Luhanova accomplished a 5-month traineeship at the Secretariat-General of
the European Commission from October 2014 to February 2015. During this period she
worked in the Business Continuity unit within the Decision-making Process Directorate.
Ms Luhanova demonstrated the ability to work independently with great creativity and
enthusiasm. She also put in many long hours. I teamed Ms Luhanova with another
colleague to work on several projects involving the revision of the corporate business
continuity guidance for all Commission Directorates General and Executive Agencies.
She proved her effectiveness in the preparation of Business Continuity Network meeting
and Working Group on NOAH, the IT tool supporting business continuity process in the
institution. Her interpersonal skills were also excellent with particular positive impact on
coordination and communication tasks. To illustrate her drive for accomplishment I
would mention her instrumental contribution for the completion of the Alternative
Premises Operational Guide and the verification of the Relocation Plan established by
host DGs for new Commissioners and their Cabinets.
During her time with us, Ms Luhanova proved herself resourceful, interested in learning,
able to deliver multiple deadline-driven projects requiring input from many internal
clients and she always remained calm under pressure. She helped us with the preparation
of an awareness raising note concerning possible electric power cuts and she
demonstrated outstanding punctuality, being often the first to come to our internal
meetings.
I found her to be a very productive and congenial office colleague, and I would be
delighted to recommend her for any future academic or professional endeavour.

3. Adviser's appreciation
Ms Luhanova willingly took responsibility for all tasks that were assigned to her. She successfully
completed them, even though they covered a wide range and required an expertise in the field. She is
a quick and enthusiastic learner - she quickly grasped the basics of Business Continuity, Crisis
management and got familiar with a wide range of legislative procedures in the EU by self-studying
and following the proposed trainings with devotion. She actively participated to 'Introduction to
BCM', 'Evaluation of BC process1 and a specific training for Duty Officers as well as to 'Internal and
interinstitutional decision-making procedures' training.
When undertaking her tasks, she showed a range of various and transitional skills, namely great
communication, analytical and logical reasoning, drafting and organisational skills, problem solving
abilities, an eye for details and a profound knowledge of English and French languages.
Ms Luhanova was always positive, proactive, respectful and effective in implementing what was
asked by her. She proved herself resourceful, interested in learning, able to deliver multiple
deadline-driven projects requiring input from many internal clients and she always remained
smiling and calm under pressure.
Overall, Ms Luhanova's skills, curiosity, stamina and integrity coupled with her international
academic and professional background, diligent work ethic and determination as well as a flexible
attitude and a very pleasant character made her an appreciated and respected team-member during
her traineeship.
