Below is my response from Alistair Ewing to provide a reference in relation to our professional
association.
My name is Stephen Helliwell. I am a retired Police detective sergeant. I spent the majority of my
Police career working in specialist covert operation units such as the Serious Crime Squad, Regional
Crime squad, along with being seconded to the security services for 7 years, specialising in the
investigation into international drug trafficking syndicates.
During my Police career, I was exposed to sophisticated and complex methods of intelligence
gathering tools, including the use of specialised covert equipment, multi-platform communication
interception techniques, as well as employing conventional processes of obtaining information.
Since 2010 having retired from the Police, I have been operating a privately owned investigation
company which concentrates in offering a range of specialist services to the commercial sector for
topics such as corporate espionage, data theft, and breach of contract issues.
In 2011 I had cause to obtain the services of a competent computer forensic expert following our
previous supplier’s retirement. We approached Compute Forensics and were immediately impressed
with Alistair’s ability to understand our situation and offer an achievable solution in a time critical
manner. Since then Alistair is the first person we turn to for investigations that demand a recognised
professional in his area of expertise.
Having known Alistair Ewing for the past 5 years, we have utilised his services and expert knowledge
for a number of investigations we have undertaken. Each time he has consistently provided us with
peerless results that have facilitated our own investigation in providing exceptional results that have
allowed us to develop our business.
Many of the investigations that Alistair has been tasked to assist us with have involved the handling
of delicate and sensitive data. At no time have we had issue to question his integrity or ability to
handle data of this nature and we have every confidence in his discretion and responsibilities to
maintain such data in accordance with professional standards.
Alistair is a competent and capable expert who is able articulate the mechanics of what he does in a
way that a lay person is able to understand, a factor which we feel is paramount in collectively
achieving the objectives we are seeking.
