• JabRef is an open source bibliography reference
manager. The native file format used by JabRef is
BibTeX, the standard LaTeX bibliography format. JabRef
runs on the Java VM (version 1.8 or newer), and works
equally well on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.
• BibTeX is an application and a bibliography file format
written by Oren Patashnik and Leslie Lamport for the
LaTeX document preparation system. General

information page. JabRef also supports Bib Latex.
• Bibliographies generated by LaTeX and BibTeX from a
BibTeX file can be formatted to suit any reference list

is a nonproprietary alphanumeric code to uniquely
identify scientific and other academic authors.
 This addresses the problem that a particular
author's contributions to the scientific literature or

they can change have cultural differences in name
order, contain inconsistent use of first-name
abbreviations and employ different writing
systems.
 It provides a persistent identity for humans, similar
to that created for content-related entities on digital
networks by digital object identifiers (DOIs)
