2. REDUCE – RECYCLE – REUSE – RESPECT
RECYCLING AS PART OF OUR CURRICULUM
 In our schoolbooks there are a lot of texts about Recycling especially in subjects such
as Language, Foreign Language and Environmental Studies.
 Our students take part in projects about Recycling and Environmental protection.
This includes discussion about these issues, gathering of information, creation of
posters and construction of ornaments and decorations made from recyclable
materials, visits to places where Recycling is performed.
WHAT WE DO ABOUT RECYCLING AT SCHOOL, AT HOME AND IN OUR COMMUNITY
At school, we try to buy notebooks made of recycled paper.
We recycle the used books and our notebooks at the end of the schoolyear.
We use items that can be recycled for the construction of various ornaments in our Art
classes (bottles, jars, cans, old magazines etc.).
We collect batteries, paper and plastic items in special bins at school.
At home, we collect items that can be recycled and put them in special bins.
We try to reuse the plastic and paper bags we get from the supermarket and other shops.
We try to buy recycled paper for our everyday use. We try to buy things that their
packaging can be recycled.
The city council has placed special bins almost everywhere in our town where we can put
recyclable items. These bins are blue whereas the bins for our litter are green. We do not
have to sort them out though; we put all recyclable items in one bin. In our town there is a
gathering place for recyclable materials, where items are sorted out according to their
material and then are transferred to a bigger city, where they are processedand recycled.
