A recount text retells past events or experiences to inform or entertain the audience. It generally includes an orientation introducing participants, place and time, followed by a series of events described in chronological order using simple past tense and linking verbs. The recount may optionally include a re-orientation providing the writer's personal comment. Examples would use action verbs, simple past tense, and chronological connectors to describe a sequence of events for the purpose of informing or entertaining the reader.
