Cash Money Records was founded in 1991 in New Orleans by brothers Bryan "Birdman" Williams and Ronald "Slim" Williams, who still serve as CEOs. They focus mainly on rap music but also represent some pop artists, such as Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and others. Cash Money operates as a subsidiary of Universal Music Group and is distributed by Republic Records, achieving their big break in 1998 with the success of the Hot Boys and later growing massively after signing Drake and Nicki Minaj.
