To Whom It May Concern,
It is with great pleasure that I recommend Nikhil Kanade to you as a highly competent,
dedicated, and motivated educator. As the WorldTeach Field Director in Morocco, it has been a
wonderful opportunity to supervise and work with him. Nikhil arrived to Morocco in June 2014
to serve as a volunteer in IDMAJ Cultural Center. Prior to beginning his teaching assignment, he
participated in an intensive week-long WorldTeach Orientation. Nikhil has successfully
completed his teaching assignment in August 2014.
WorldTeach is an independently incorporated, non-profit organization based in Cambridge, MA.
WorldTeach partners with governments and other organizations in developing countries to
provide volunteer teachers to meet local needs and promote responsible global citizenship. Over
7,000 WorldTeach volunteers have served in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Pacific Islands,
and Latin America since 1986.
WorldTeach has partnered with IDMAJ Cultural Center Casablanca; students at the cultural
center are children and youth coming from marginalized areas in Casablanca. The cultural center
strives to provide an environment where they can learn, develop their skills and leadership.
WorldTeach volunteers work in IDMAJ Cultural Center to support students to attend this goal.
During his commitment as a volunteer in IDMAJ cultural Center, Nikhil worked as a teacher of
Life Skills. He has been responsible for the planning and execution of courses and small group
discussions helping students to discover their selves, develop their life skills, in addition to their
writing style and English language usage. He never failed to complete a task and did each task
with enthusiasm.
Nikhil worked with a diverse group of students, from different ages. Whether in individual
meetings or large group discussions; he strives to adapt his teaching methodology. Nikhil spent
many hours outside of his assigned work hours meeting with students in order to provide any
extra assistance they may need. Nikhil’s dedication, respect and compassion for his students are
admirable.
In addition to his successes in the classroom, I have been particularly struck by Nikhil’s
involvement at IDMAJ Cultural Center and Sidi Moumen’s community. Nikhil has also gotten
involved in a number of extracurricular activities.
Nikhil makes it easy to feel comfortable and ask questions around him. When he speaks, it is
clear, thoughtful, and never brash. Nikhil’s professionalism is outstanding, he has strong teaching
skills and he is always ready to learn and has a winning combination of both creativity and
practicality. As Field Director here, these are all clear signs that he appreciates and has become a
valuable part of this community.
