7. Recruit to a vision
• It’s not their responsibility to develop a
passion for kids, it our responsibility to cast
the vision and recruit them to something
bigger.
8. By the age of 5 a child’s life-long
concept of God has been formed.
9. Foundation
Before the age of 12 kids are deciding
what they believe. After the age of 12
kids are defending what they believe.
12. The Stats
• 85% of people who make a decision to
follow Christ do so before the age of 14.
• A survey found that 80% of missionaries
heard God’s call and had already said
“yes” to serve him by the time they were
12 years old.
18. The reality
• The average church
has 40 hours a year
to spend with kids.
• The average parent
has 3000 hours a
year to spend with
the same child.
19. Equip the Family
• Train parents
• Create space for families to serve
together, do life together, be together,
etc.
• Encourage family in ALL aspects of
ministry.
• Think creatively
In children’s ministry we get the opportunity to speak truth into little one’s lives that will hopefully sink deep in their very soul and into their core. If a teenager who deals with body image issues had learned at an early age, while their foundation was still being laid, that in Psalms 139 God says he created them perfectly and in Ecclesiastes he created everything beautiful, might their life look a little different? If an adult dealing with abandonment issues had learned during their foundation years that in Isaiah God says he has chosen them and will not throw them away, when they walk through the fire they won’t be burned, and that in Romans it says that absolutely nothing can separate them from the love of their father, might their life look differently?
