1. Ray Raymakers
Born in the Netherlands and studied at the Fashion
Academy Charles Montaigne in Amsterdam.
Graduated Cum Laude in 1983 and moved to New
York.
1983-1992 Design Assistant with a Seventh Ave
company, and 10 months later became Design
Director for Go Silk, where we developed “washable
silk”.
At Go Silk for nearly 10 years and experienced and
challenged the 2000 + years of silk history while working
in HK and China. Reworking silk in a style and attitude
that had never been done or seen before. Go Silk was
for over 10 years the top performer in the best specialty
stores in the world.
1992- 1999 Free lance consulting for larger Fashion
Companies and developed a collection exclusively for
Charivari New York
2000-current: Owner of Van den Akker in New York. My
gallery specializes in collector level Twentieth Century
European furniture and Lighting. Introducing some of
the most influential European Twentieth Century
Creators to American Interior Designers and Architects.
2015- current: Created a Fashion Collection with a
Bohemian Casual Luxury attitude. The Collection
focuses on Tops and Dresses. Marketed towards better
Specialty stores and the best Department Stores.

My experiences have involved me in many aspects of
business. I am creative but equally skilled in production,
financial planning, Sales, management and business
strategy.
This unique range of skills make all aspects of business a
familiar place for me, but allowing me to evaluate all
aspects with equal understanding. I enjoy the creative
process and the business planning to make a company
work equally at an executive level.
