Ranjith Devaraj is pursuing a career in mechanical engineering due to his fascination with machines and how they work. He completed his secondary education with good grades at JSS International School in Ooty and was admitted to the prestigious Visvesvaraya Technological University. During his undergraduate studies, he gained both theoretical and practical knowledge in various engineering subjects. While he struggled in his third year due to a change in teaching methods, he is now confident and aims to complete his final year project at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in Bangalore. Ranjith believes lifelong learning is important for success and staying updated in his field, and he is determined to further his education by pursuing an advanced degree.

1. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure
about the former, was quoted by Albert Einstein. I am persistent in finding the
former. Spacefascinatesmewith its hidden secret, which I like to explore. Equipped
with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure
Science, which hasgiven me a lotof thrustto pursuemyhigher secondaryeducation
in thestream of science. Machinesmake me dumbstruckasthey worktirelessly and
do not expect anything in return except for maintenance, which the humans have
achieved by outsmarting the naturethis very thoughtmade me curious in knowing
the mechanics, dynamics of the machines which propelled me to the profession of
mechanical engineering.
Excellence is a continuous process and not an accident. And to achieve the
excellence I have continuously worked towards it and with the help of motivating
teachers in the secondary and higher grade in the prestigious institute of jss
international school Ooty (Ootacamund), I comfortablysecured 75.4%in 10th and
71.2% in 12th also lead a team for the school as vice captain for two consecutive
years which also highlights my leadership qualities. With these qualities I was
admitted to one of the India’s prestigious university popularly known as VTU
(visveswaraya technologicaluniversity), my collageeast west institute of technology
is affiliated by the same.
In my baccalaureateI have acquired a great deal of practical as well as theoretical
knowledge that is in the syllabus and aspiring to accumulate as much as possible
with zeal of interest. The syllabus comprised of generous portion of math, physics,
electronics which is a interesting subject and computer science and the major
subjects like hydraulics, applied thermodynamics, basic thermodynamicsto name a
few. I had few hiccups in between the 3rd year as I could not understand the
professors and I was basically dependent on teachers in the school day and was
accustomed to their study method. The change in study methods reflected my
results as I failed for the first time and there after, now I am confident of myself to
achieve greatheightsinfluenced fromthebookwingsoffirebyDr.A.P.JAbdulKalam
who has inspired me from his writings to take up aerospace for my masters.
During my 2nd and 3rd year of my undergraduateprogram I was able to acquire a
consummateknowledge of roboticsthrough workshop and received a certificate of

2. participation, which was organized by robotryst iit delhi in association with
robosapiens India, during which we came across ‘C’ programming. During the
following year I attended internship at HMT (Hindustan machine tools) Bangalore
where a team of 4 lead by me carried out a project work on TPM(Three piece
manipulator) which was used in baba atomic research center. Not only the project
enlightened me but the enormousknowledge I got from the workshopswe visited.
There were many workshops like bearing, forging, foundry, and measurements to
name a few. During the project I came across many types of manipulators, which
can be used in space applications and manymore. I intend to carryoutmyfinal year
project at HAL (Hindustan aeronautics limited) Bangalore.
I am resolute aboutmy goals, I believe that when you want something, all the
universe conspires in helping you to achieve it. An advanced degree will not only
elevate my career butwill help me stay on top of the industry. It is importantto be
a lifelong learner to succeed in any field and am proud to say that I am of that kind,
I keep my self-updated with the latest happening in science and technologyto stay
abreast with the world, my interest and curiosity makes me a good listener and an
experiment enthusiast. I believe that with my capacity for diligence, commendable
logic and commitment to achieve my goals.
