Rajasthan, formerly known as Rajputana, is the largest state in India located in the northwest of the country. Jaipur is the capital city. The state experiences hot summers with temperatures up to 115°F and mild winters down to 46°F. Rajasthani culture is vibrant with colorful traditions reflected in its folk dances, music, clothing, cuisine and architecture including numerous forts and palaces. The state also features wildlife sanctuaries and national parks home to tigers and other animals.
